I had the honor of piercing a friends navel— who’s had a long journey with her body. Growing up, she didn’t naturally have a belly button and it was always something she felt insecure about—but over time, she learned to embrace her scars and the story behind them ✨ (She was born with a rare birth defect called GASTROSCHISIS)

When she came to me, we both understood her anatomy wasn’t ideal for a traditional navel piercing. But I was more than happy to work with her and create something beautiful for her in a way that gave it the best chance at healing—so we used a larger gauge to support it.
