THANK YOU!

FAIR Girls recognized Capital City Primary and Immediate Care and Dr. Fernando Porter as the recipients of the first-ever Service in Action Award. This award recognizes individuals and partners who translate compassion into meaningful, real-world impact for survivors of human trafficking.

FAIR Girls has been responding to the urgent and ongoing need for survivor-centered services for individuals impacted by human trafficking across the Washington, D.C. region.

Dr. Porter has become a trusted medical resource for FAIR Girls—providing health and wellness education to survivors and serving as an on-call physician for staff when urgent medical questions arise. His guidance has helped their team navigate complex health concerns and ensure survivors receive appropriate and timely care.

Did you know?
African American women ages 20 and older experience heart disease and are more likely to have risk factors for heart disease, like high blood pressure, at younger ages compared to white women.

Risk factors include:
- Obesity
- Hypertension
- Diabetes

Have your healthcare provider explain your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and BMI numbers. Ask what is a healthy range or what you can do to improve them.
