Hair loss can be frustrating because the answer isn’t always sitting on your bathroom shelf.

Sometimes, the biggest clue is what’s happening inside your body.

You can be using the “right” shampoo, taking supplements, changing your hair routine, and still see shedding if the underlying trigger hasn’t been addressed.

And sometimes, there isn’t just one trigger.

It could be low iron stores + hormonal changes.

Stress + rapid weight loss.

Thyroid changes + another underlying issue.

That’s why I don’t believe in treating hair loss with a one-size-fits-all approach.

Before asking, “What should I put on my scalp?”

It’s worth asking:

“What changed in my body before my hair started changing?”

Because your hair may be giving you a clue—not just a cosmetic problem to cover up.

If you’re experiencing unexplained hair loss, it’s worth looking at the bigger picture and working with a qualified healthcare professional to identify possible contributors.

When your hair starts thinning, the first question shouldn’t just be how to stop it, it should be why it’s happening.

Hair loss is a symptom, not a diagnosis.

Different patterns of hair loss can point to different underlying causes, which is why understanding the pattern and timing matters.

That may mean looking at:

• whether you’re shedding or gradually thinning
• when it started
• whether it’s diffuse or localized
• what was happening in your health in the months before it began

Your 40s may require a different definition of “healthy.”

More cardio, less food, and pushing harder aren’t always the answer.

This is the decade to prioritize protein, strength, recovery, sleep, and stress management.

Your body isn’t failing. Your strategy may just need to evolve.

Save this + share it with a woman who needs this reminder.

I hear this from so many women:

“I’m doing everything I used to do… so why isn’t it working anymore?”

And honestly, this is where I want you to stop blaming yourself.

Your body in midlife may need a different kind of support—not more restriction, punishment, or hours of cardio.

Sometimes, the focus needs to shift toward:

Building muscle
Eating enough protein
Supporting blood sugar balance
Prioritizing sleep and recovery
Understanding your changing hormones

You’re not failing.

Your body is changing, and your strategy may need to change with it.

Share this with a woman who needs to hear it.

You can weigh exactly the same as you did years ago… and still have significantly more body fat and less muscle.

That’s the part of midlife body changes that the scale doesn’t show you.

You step on the scale and think, “My weight hasn’t really changed, so why do my clothes fit differently?”

Here’s why:

Two women can weigh exactly the same but have completely different amounts of muscle and body fat.

During midlife, women can begin to lose muscle while gaining body fat, particularly around the abdomen. So while the number on the scale may stay relatively stable, your body composition can change dramatically.

That means the goal shouldn’t simply be to weigh less.

During midlife, the focus should also be on:

• More muscle
• Less excess body fat
• Better metabolic health
• More strength
• Greater physical independence as you age

Because the scale only tells you how much you weigh.

It doesn’t tell you what that weight is made of.

Have you noticed your body changing even though your weight hasn’t changed much?

This is the difference between perimenopause and menopause that every woman should know.

The two terms are often used interchangeably, but they actually describe two different stages of the hormonal transition.

PERIMENOPAUSE = the transition

Perimenopause is the period leading up to menopause. During this stage, hormone levels can fluctuate, which can affect your cycle and how you feel.

You may notice:
• Periods becoming shorter, longer, heavier, lighter, or unpredictable
• Changes in sleep
• Mood or energy fluctuations
• Hot flashes or night sweats
• Changes in PMS symptoms
• Symptoms that come and go from month to month

And importantly, you can still have periods during perimenopause.

MENOPAUSE = the milestone

Menopause is officially reached after 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period, when there isn’t another cause for the absence of periods.

After that, you are considered postmenopausal.

So remember:

Perimenopause = the transition
Menopause = 12 months without a period

And here’s what many women don’t realize: you can experience significant changes during perimenopause long before you officially reach menopause.

If this helped clarify the difference, share it with a woman who needs to know this.

Waking up at 2 or 3 AM isn’t always “just stress.”

Here’s something I want you to think about:

If you’re still getting periods, are you actually ovulating consistently?

Because during perimenopause, ovulation can become less predictable—and that can change progesterone, which plays an important role in sleep.

But hormones aren’t the only piece.

Under-eating. Overtraining. Major stress. Big changes in weight.
Your body notices all of it.

So instead of immediately asking, “What can I take to sleep better?” it may be worth asking:

“What is my body trying to tell me?”

Tell me honestly: what time do you most often wake up at night—2 AM, 3 AM, or 4 AM?

And if your sleep has changed recently, save this post. Your sleep patterns can be useful clues about what’s happening in your body.

When women hear “perimenopause,” they often think of hot flashes.

But the transition can look much more subtle than that.

You might notice that your sleep has changed. Your cycles feel different. Your mood isn’t quite the same. You’re more tired than usual. Or you simply feel like your body isn’t responding the way it used to.

There can be many reasons for these changes, and I don’t want you to assume they’re all hormonal.

At the same time, I don’t want you to ignore changes in your body or brush them off as “just getting older.”

Your symptoms are giving you information. Paying attention to the pattern can help you understand what may be changing and what deserves a closer look.

Have you noticed a change in your body that you didn’t realize could be connected to perimenopause?

08/18/2026

If you’re in your late 30s or 40s and suddenly feel like your body is changing, you’re not imagining it.

Your periods may still be coming regularly, yet you might notice changes in sleep, mood, energy, cycle patterns, or temperature regulation.

Perimenopause isn’t an overnight switch—and it doesn’t simply mean your hormones suddenly “drop.”

Hormones can become more unpredictable as ovulation changes, which is why symptoms can sometimes feel confusing or inconsistent.

This is why I don’t want women to dismiss new symptoms as “just stress” or “I’m getting older.”

Understanding the transition can help you understand what your body is actually experiencing.

Have you ever wondered if a change you noticed could be related to perimenopause?

Perimenopause isn’t simply about “low hormones.” It’s about changing, unpredictable hormone patterns, and those changes can show up in ways you may not expect.

Which symptom has surprised you the most?
