Homemade BBQ sauce, quick and simple.
I haven't eaten BBQ sauce in 15-20 years but I was craving it the other day. I stopped buying it because of the corn syrup, sugar, and other crappy ingredients.
But I wanted some!
So I decided to make it. It took 5 - 10 minutes to mix the ingredients then it simmered for 20 minutes. Then ready to spread in my baby back ribs! 😋
Ingredients:
Jovial crushed tomatoes (12-16 ounce jar)
Small can of tomato paste
Apple cider vinegar (about ¼ cup)
Molasses (to taste, about ¼ cup)
1 tablespoon of maple syrup (a little more if it suits your taste)
Paprika - I used a mix of smoked, hot, and sweet, mostly smoked.
Cumin
Jalapeño powder
One red chili
Salt and pepper
All spices to taste. Mix all ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes.
Note- I added some tamarind paste because I had it and it's fun. I added less than a tablespoon because its tang would've taken over. You could also a touch of coconut aminos if that's your style (it's not mine).
Sooooo good and all good ingredients. Win-win. Try it this BBQ season
