Look who showed up at Lex’s Landing a couple of days ago! Jeff Campbell and his wife Cindy. What a surprise it was to see them out and about!! Apparently Grants Pass was out of rotisserie chicken so they had to come clear over here to find some. Jeff was paramount to my successful season as he painted me some sweet blades. Not only does he paint some of the coolest fish catching blades, he is also a great human. I have been blessed in more ways than one by the folks that has crossed my path this season and I appreciate all of you!💪

Well I can now see the finish line for my fall season but the fish still keep coming. Not as many Kings as there were but I’m still scratching out a dandy almost every trip. Lots of wild coho and of course most of them get eaten by the seals when you release them. The weather today was that of a perfectly written fiction novel. My clients today were some of the best I’ve ever got the pleasure to know. We had several fish on, several over the rail and two we could keep! It was non stop action almost all day long. Although these fellas bought the seat they were in, they only needed the edge! I only have a few more days on my schedule before the season concludes. Today was a great day! Just like every day I get to spend with my clients. The most special thing about all of my clients, they choose me! Very grateful for their ride or die attitude! I don’t promise to be the best fisherman on the river as I also have a wife and a family that I need like a salmon needing to eat an anchovy! Lots of sacrifice goes into every day and sometimes we are able to connect all of the dots. We were able to that today. Lots of fish over the rail, several were chomped up by seals when we released them as the regulations did not allow us to keep them. I don’t make the laws but I DO NOT understand this philosophy!! At the end of the day, we got some kings we could keep and we fed the seals some local fare. Tomorrow is new day, regardless how I feel about the law, we are lucky to get to meet the fine folks that choose to spend their day with our small little guiding operation. And as always, I hope I see you all at the cleaning station!!!🇺🇸

Great day with Larry and Glen! It was Larry’s 82nd trip around the sun today and he cranked in some salmon to celebrate. One double and a full size King came over the rail for his son in-law Glen. Not a bad way to spend a day for sure! I am so fortunate to fish such nice folks, that’s the greatest catch for me! Life is good, make sure to spend time with people you care about. After all life is too short and time is limited so choose your moments wisely. My season is coming to an end, so as always I hope we can all meet at the cleaning station!

Great day with returning Clients Bill and Cheryl! Got one we could keep and it was a full size one. Lots of coho around with a mixed bag of Kings as well. We even saw Larry Prestininzi out perfecting his craft with his buddy Anthony. I’ve actually seen Bigfoot out here more than I’ve seen Larry. Well maybe not Bigfoot but it could possibly be “Team Stryker”! Anyway you can’t get back today so go and enjoy it👊 Hopefully we can all meet at the cleaning station!🇺🇸

CALLING ALL GUIDES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS!! As you know the fisherman’s memorial was vandalized down by the south jetty but a new one is being constructed. The site for the new memorial is across from the VFW memorial at the south end of town by Shirley lane. All of the work is being done by volunteers to memorialize those who have perished at sea. There is significant cost in undertaking such a project which will include some directional boring to provide electricity to the site. I challenge all of you to pledge a minimum of 100.00 each to fund the rest of the project that will take place over the winter. You can make checks payable to VFW Fishermen’s Memorial and send payment to 29478 Coho Lane here in Gold Beach. This is a 501 C3 organization so all donations are tax deductible. If you have any questions regarding the project call Rand Dorrico at 707-481-1796. Thank you in advance for making this project possible. Any funds left over will go to the VFW.

Another great time with Chip and Patty Rowland! They’ve taken several pounds of salmon back to the Bay Area the last couple of trips with us. Yesterday they wanted to hit the upper river and cast for some half pounders. Weather was beautiful and the half pounders were fairly abundant. Ol’ Rudy got to go as well!! As always I appreciate all of my clients that support us. Several cohos starting to show up in the estuary along with good numbers of kings. Get out there and capitalize on what our river has to offer. Good luck to all of you!!💪🇺🇸
