Listening to Jimmy Buffet while catching nice Kings. Listen in the background as Chris Young was inquiring about the “Reel Malfunction “ we experienced 🤣 Yes, we had a reel fall out of the reel seat which added a little excitement to the fight! However Patty put another slab over the rail! As a guide we want you to enjoy the entire process that goes into catching these salmon but the end goal is putting them in the boat. Take a minute and enjoy this video and hopefully you will get the experience this very same thing, without the reel falling off of course!!😉

Well this concludes two days with Chip and Patty as they head back to the Bay Area with their limits of kings. Tougher bite for us today but we finished the day strong with a very nice adult! Lots of “Super Jacks” around right now but this rain will bring another batch of large adults in to ring in Hogtember!! Not that I was paying attention but Patty put more poundage on the scale than Chip did this trip!😉 They will be back in a couple of weeks to try their luck again. As for me, I’m hunkered down in my RV with my Wife, two labs and yes the spicy little Weiner dog named Kimber. Leader work and a little cleanup to get ready for my next batch of clients. I appreciate everyone who chose us to be their guide of choice this summer and I’m looking forward to many of you returning and a strong fall fishery over the next couple of months! I’ll see you at the cleaning station!!

Here’s to Chip and Patty Rowland! Thank you for believing in me, I appreciate you guys more than you know. Chip and Patty were one of my very first clients and now they fish with me every year. We had a marvelous day on the water with a full bag of nice Kings. This fishery is constantly evolving and sometimes you have make changes and today we changed up some stuff and it paid off in a big way. Tomorrow is a new day with its own set of challenges but today we got to bask in the glory of what the Rogue offered up to us. And for that, we are very grateful! Another day tomorrow with some of my favorite clients so we will see if the river will forfeit some more purple and chrome slabs. As for me, I have to do some leader work and prep for another opportunity tomorrow. And of course as always, I hope we all can meet at the cleaning station!!

Was privileged to fish a good friend of mine and probably one of the hardest working fellas I know. Todd Wilson and his buddy Greg hopped aboard my boat and spent a day with me and left their troubles behind. Well at least that’s what they thought! The Rogue Bay offered up many challenges and near misses with salmon and other fellow fishermen seeking the purple and chrome bounty that lurks in the tidal waters. Todd and Greg have been friends since childhood and Todd idolized Greg for his baseball ability on the mound. Greg back in his day was one of the best pitchers in Oregon as he was king of the mound for St. Helens High School. The two of them hung with me till the bottom of the ninth today and squeaked out a W with three nice kings!! Looking forward to spending another day with them next time on our beautiful river! And as always, I hope I see all of you at the fish cleaning station!!💪🇺🇸

Scott and his lifelong kindergarten buddy traveled all the way from the Louisiana Bayou to try there luck on some Rogue River Kings. They soon found out that the salmon here will fight them all the way to the smokehouse!! They suffered some heartache as one fishermen refused to reel their lines in even after our efforts to politely ask him to do so. As a result of the fella refusing to help out by being courteous and reeling in his lines, the fish got away. Scott an Hud were determined to finish their day on a high note and got to notch another one on their tag and went home with a limit of Rogue River bounty. Neither one of them had ever caught a salmon before but after today, I believe they will try their luck again sometime. As for me, I just got done washing the boat and getting ready to embrace another day! Good luck out there and I hope we all get to meet at the fish cleaning station!!

My day started off by hanging out with some of the greatest fellas that I get to share my time with in the morning while making preparations for the upcoming day of fishing. We loaded up three clients and took home a nice bag of salmon! How did you spend your day?? Find a guide and let them take care of you and hopefully we all can meet at the cleaning station!!💪

Skip and Joanne wanted to catch a salmon to take to their friends at the Black Butte Ranch. And they did what they set out to do!! We got a small adult as well and we celebrated a successful day as they were off the river by noon!! Lots of fish in the river but they have been pounded on pretty hard and they get stale like day old bread. Opportunity is abundant but and all of the guides are working hard to capitalize on every chance to put a fish in the box. Not the fishing it was two weeks ago but you need to get out and capitalize when preparation and opportunity meet!! And as always, I hope to see you at the fish cleaning station!!!💪
