Civic involvement is one way communities help shape the conditions that affect health. Voting is one way to take part and make your own choices about the people and issues on your ballot.

If you plan to vote this year, here are a few Jeffco dates to know: Ballots begin mailing and drop boxes open October 5th. Vote centers begin opening October 19th. If you’re returning your ballot by mail, October 26th is the last day to mail it. Election Day is November 3rd, and ballots must be received by 7 p.m.

Before the weather turns, take a few minutes to think about what you rely on every day.

Check whether you’ll need medication refills soon, charge backup batteries and make a plan for any medicine or medical equipment that needs power. It’s also a good time to test your carbon monoxide detectors and make sure you can receive local emergency alerts.

A few small checks now can make an unexpected cold-weather day a lot easier to manage.

WIC can be one of those things. It can help with food, nutrition, breastfeeding support and connections to other local resources. You may qualify even if you’ve never thought of WIC as something for your family.
