September 10 is World Su***de Prevention Day.
Today is an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage open and honest conversations about su***de, and remind those who may be struggling that support is available.
Su***de prevention begins with connection. It means creating a community where people feel safe reaching out, where difficult conversations are met with empathy rather than judgment, and where we take the time to check in on the people around us.
Whether it’s a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor, each of us can play a role by listening, offering support, and helping connect someone to the resources they may need. A simple conversation can make a meaningful difference.
If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available:
Call or text 988 to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.
For Ascension Parish Government employees: The Employee Assistance Program confidential hotline is available 24 hours a day at 800-622-7276.
Today and every day, let’s continue working toward a community where people feel connected, supported, and comfortable asking for help when they need it.
