Happy Juneteenth National Independence Day!

On this day in 1865, enslaved Black people in Texas finally learned they had been freed more than two years earlier by the Emancipation Proclamation. The day has been a celebration of that freedom ever since, and Juneteenth finally became a federal holiday in 2021.

Ask any American what sets the United States apart and chances are, they’ll say “Freedom!” That’s why here at Coastal Urgent Care of Gonzales, we’re thrilled to recognize Juneteenth as an important milestone in the fight for freedom and equality for all Americans.

After a head injury, you're faced with a stressful question: Do I need to go to the ER?

For most concussions, the answer is probably no. Urgent care can offer the same clinical evaluation with no appointment required, and with multiple locations, it’s typically more convenient and less stressful than waiting in the ER.

Unfortunately, too many concussions go unrecognized or mismanaged because of outdated beliefs about what a concussion looks and feels like. (Hint: you don't have to lose consciousness. And no, a CT scan can't diagnose it.)

We love our nurses year-round, but May is special. As National Nurses Month, it’s a great time to share why they’re such an important part of our organization!

Here at Coastal Urgent Care of Gonzales, and throughout our family of clinics, we are so grateful for the knowledge, compassion and skill our nurses bring to work every single day. Our nurses provide exceptional care to patients of all ages and with every imaginable medical need. Never knowing whether the next visit will be someone with a simple flu or a serious wound, they’re prepared, poised and ready to give personalized, professional help as quickly as possible.

From treating our patients 🩺 to advising our administrative team, creating our medical policies to mentoring other providers, our doctors are key to achieving strong healthcare and business outcomes. We are so grateful for their leadership, collaboration, and integrity! 🙌
