Nearly half of adults over 60 struggle with sleep, but "common" does not mean "normal."

Research shows untreated sleep problems:

โ†’ Accelerate cognitive decline

โ†’ Increase fall risk

โ†’ Worsen depression

โ†’ Contribute to diabetes and heart disease

And here is the part most people do not know: sleep medications have been linked to a 48% increase in dementia risk.

Effective, non-medication treatments exist. They work. And they should start in midlife, not after a crisis.

Stop accepting poor sleep. Start assessing it.

Your doctor checks your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar at every visit.
But when was the last time anyone actually assessed your sleep?

Here is what the research says:

๐Ÿง  Poor sleep increases dementia risk: your brain cleans itself ONLY during deep sleep

โš–๏ธ Sleep deprivation drives weight gain: even if you eat well

โค๏ธ Short sleep is linked to heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure

๐Ÿฉธ Poor sleep increases diabetes risk by 40%

And yet, 30% of people with sleep problems say their doctor never asks about sleep.

The damage starts in midlife. Not at 65. Not at 75. Now.

That is why sleep is a core domain of our Vital 8 Healthy Aging Assessment.

Standing on one foot is not balance training. ๐Ÿง

Here is what most people do not realize: the exercises in most balance programs test static balance: holding a position. But research shows that what actually prevents falls is reactive balance, your ability to recover when something unexpected throws you off.

A slip on ice. A dog that lunges. Someone bumping into you on a plane.

A recent meta-analysis found that training this skill reduces falls by up to 39%.

But it works even better when combined with strength, cognition, and the other areas that influence why falls actually happen.

Our latest Vital 8 blog breaks it all down. ๐Ÿ‘‡

These products manage symptoms.
They do not treat the cause.

For many people, the underlying problem is treatable โ€” often in weeks to months with professional pelvic floor therapy. But most people have never been told that treatment exists.

Our pelvic floor specialists โ€” Tricia Reimann and Madysen Rehobsky โ€” have years of advanced training across women, men, and pediatric populations. This is specialized care, not generic advice.

Before you spend another dollar on products, consider getting a proper assessment. Know what is actually happening. Then fix the actual problem.

1 in 4 women has a pelvic floor disorder.
Most have never been screened.
Most have been told it is "just part of aging."

It is not.

Leakage, urgency, pelvic pressure, rushing to the bathroom...these are common, but they are not inevitable. And they are connected to things most people would never expect: fall risk, depression, sleep disruption, and cognitive decline.

The pelvic floor is the structural foundation of your body. When it is not working well, everything is affected.

Our newest blog post breaks down what no one is telling you about pelvic floor health, including why "just do kegels" can actually make things worse, how much you might be spending on pads that will never fix the problem, and why other countries screen for this routinely while the U.S. does not.

Caring for someone you love can be rewarding, but it can also be exhausting.

Thereโ€™s everyday caregiver stress, and then thereโ€™s burnout.

Burnout can look like constant exhaustion, losing your patience more often, skipping your own appointments, not sleeping well, or feeling resentful about things that never used to bother you.

If several of these feel familiar, it may be time to ask for more support.
Taking care of yourself matters, too.

Share this with a caregiver who needs the reminder.

We test cholesterol. Blood pressure. Blood sugar.

But when was the last time anyone checked your brain? ๐Ÿง

It controls every decision, every conversation, every time you drive or manage your medications. Yet most people never get a cognitive screen until something is obviously wrong.

By then, the brain has been changing for years.

Our new blog explores why that needs to change, starting in midlife.
