We offer Acu-Wellness by a licensed practitioner. We buy old tattoo stuff! IG Spiritual Transformation Tattooing, 7 days a week! Our sanctum was founded by "Calamity" Jane Nemhauser in the late 1970s, having her first shop in the tiny Colorado town of Meeker. Over the next 35+ years she opened up western Colorado to a quality previously unavailable to the area. She was trained by, wor

ked beside and collected from Ed Hardy, Bob Roberts, Bob Shaw, Good Time Charlie, Zeke Owen, and many more, and is the only woman to have held a spot as a tattooer at Bert Grimm's on the Pike. Her background allowed her to bring a new standard of tattooing to the area, and with her success in Meeker she opened up shops in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, and Grand Junction. Jane passed away in 2012 and left her shop and extensive historical collection of original tattoo flash and equipment to Aaron LeGore, the shop's current owner. Today we continue Jane's tradition of offering excellent, life-lasting tattoo art at fair prices, with the client's needs in mind.

Hi, my name’s Aaron LeGore. I’ve been here at CJT&P for 14 years, doing both walk-ins & large custom work.

People mostly ask me to do either Minimalism, or Traditional style tattoos - which may seem wierd, bc these 2 styles appear so different.

Its not that weird- I’ll explain why.

I take a traditional approach, even when doing styles that aren’t at all traditional. Here are some values of Traditional Tattooing:

•The client will be wearing the tattoo, so they should get to choose what they get

•A tattoo is only as good as it ages. You could have a masterpiece on skin for the pic that goes on social media, but if it doesn’t still look awesome in 10, 20, 30+ years, it wasn’t a good tattoo. This is differentiates tattoos from art.

•Not everything can be tattooed, as-is - no matter how good of a job is done, it will age. As the professional in the room, it’s on me to anticipate how your tattoo will look in 10,20,30 years, and to explain the limitations as to what will turn into a blob, or what will last and look nice.

•Knowing these factors, and with professional experience in the inevitability of pigments to spread over time and what speeds up or slows down that progression - it’s up to the professional to not just do what the client wants, because they want it. Even when we are broke, or when the client is from out of town, or says they’ll just have it redone later, or whatever.

•We’ve never charged to touch up anything done under our roof, and we are happy to fix, finish or cover any existing work 🧞‍♂️

Open daily 10:30am 🚶‍♀️walk-ins first come, first served - we go all day until 6pm 🦅

What do you think of Traditional style tattoos?

Aaron LeGore does a lot, as well as minimalism, fine line, blackwork, & walk-ins .

Get a custom drawing, bring in a design you like, or dig in to our massive collection of Traditonal flash, passed down 3 generations - here at Calamity Jane’s - 803 North Ave, GJ, CO.

Sailor Vern passed his collection to Jane when he died - Jane passed it, & her career accumulation of Flash, drawings, paintings, prints, tracings, books, copies & stencils down to Aaron, when she passed.

We continuously work on organizing this library of historical images to be accessible to you, as a walk-in client!

I hope to archive this collection completely & make it public, through two avenues: First, as a free public online resource, continuing the preservation & restoration of the culture as it was handed down from generations past. 2nd, to offer reproductions, prints, books & articles, etc.

We’re chipping away at these, when we aren’t busy drawing & tattooing our clients.

If you’d like to collaborate, or can share anything possibly helpful about archiving, organizing a collection, digitizing, marketing, preservation, or anything else you wish you knew before going into something similar - please dm. I do my best to make everything mutually beneficial

Also, if you’ve read this far & would like to contribute, collaborate or advise us on our project to make a documentary about “Calamity” Jane Nemhauser, please dm

Walk-ins welcome - 7 days a week at Calamity Jane’s in Grand Junction

What do you think of tattoo artists who refuse to do anything but thier “own style” on clients? I mean, I know what I think looks cool, but I don’t force that on people

Here’s a fun one I did the other day - what do you think?

I’ll do whatever style tattoo you want - as long as it will age well.

With that approach, all you have to do is know what you want & be a little flexible - I’ll take care of the rest.
