annnnd plans have a way of ccccchanging...

I had a great trip, let me start there. (This is Erick) i went from Grand Junction to the Tetons, then Yellowstone, followed by Spearfish Canyon ride and leaving Lynda and Connie in one of the most spiritual places I have visited thus far, Devils Tower, where native Americans leave prayers in the wind signified by pieces of cloth tied in knots in the trees. This place, for whatever reason you want to use, had a draw to release a little of Lynda and a little of Connie where they can have front-row seats to the tower, and they are in a large prayer circle where trees surround an empty area. surrounded by the prayers of those who might visit here.

There was the caveat that most of northern USA and Canada were on fire, and in that, the views of the Tetons were quite hazy, and after a 5-mile hike and noting my lungs weren't feeling all that great, I headed out early to Yellowstone where it was much much worse.

I had planned on hiking in those areas for a week each. surprise! decided to head on to Kentucky, where my nephew lives. He had decided to make a trip to Oklahoma to hang with his dad who is having some health stuff going on... so we got two days of spectacular rides in Kentucky. cannot say enough about the Daniel Boone park and the road that twists through it... quite beautiful. also, State Road 42 out of his area is very nice as well.

Heading to Paris in October for two weeks, the ticket to hike the Camino last year was only good for a year and if I didn't take the flight before the end of the year I would lose it entirely. so? make lemonade and dammit.. I HAVE to go to Paris in October and lining up things to do.. river tours with dinner, the Eiffel Tower, louver, bicycle tour, and maybe a trip to Belleau Woods to see where the Marines earned their nickname of Teufel Hunden... "Devil Dogs"

From Marine history:

German advance halted at Belleau Wood
German commanders ordered an advance on Marigny and Lucy through Belleau Wood as part of a major offensive, in which other German troops would cross the Marne River. The commander of the Marine Brigade, Army General James Harbord, countermanding a French order to dig trenches further to the rear, ordered the Marines to "hold where they stand". With bayonets, the Marines dug shallow fighting positions from which they could shoot from the prone position. In the afternoon of 3 June, German infantry attacked the Marine positions through the grain fields with bayonets fixed. The Marines waited until the Germans were within 100 yd (91 m) before opening deadly rifle fire which mowed down waves of German infantry and forced the survivors to retreat into the woods.[4]: 108

Having suffered heavy casualties, the Germans dug in along a defensive line from Hill 204, just east of Vaux, to Le Thiolet on the Paris-Metz Highway and northward through Belleau Wood to Torcy.[4]: 109 Marine Captain Lloyd W. Williams of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines uttered the now-famous retort "Retreat, hell! We just got here."[5][6] Williams' battalion commander, Major Frederic Wise, later claimed to have said the famous words.

This defined the Marine ethos... Semper Fidelis.

I also intend to hit Moulin Rouge and a jazz festival. will see how it all works out. still on leave, i think retirement is going to sit well with me... lol. thank you all for reading the notes and the comments. i do not check in very regularly, trying to avoid being drawn back into social media...

This is Erick, Lynda's husband. I will be on the Camino de Santiago hopefully starting from St Jean Pied de Port in France and heading to Santiago de Compostella in Spain. 500 miles. from village to village, so light pack... anyhow, taking both Connie, my first wife, and Lynda's ashes to spread as it seems appropriate in Europe. Top it off, I mixed in red glitter in both their ashes. So these girls will shine as they hang on out on the Camino. I will be returning to Colorado on the 1st of July and then have Lynda Carpenter's celebration of life at her family reunion on July 4th. all are welcome if you choose to celebrate with us. If you are interested, please email me at [email protected] and I will send you the details.

This hike is for me. like it or not, life has changed in a very significant way. So while I wait to catch up, i have my bucket list to fill. and? it keeps getting longer, so will see how things shake out. I won't be here on facebook very much, and have long since given up on social media... but thought I would share.

Hold your loved ones tight, love them with all you have. Its worth it.

Folks this is Erick, Lynda's husband. A friend brought up a good point, no, her page has not been hacked and yes, the GoFundMe is legitimate. Expenses, once covered, any extra will go to pay a charity that buys and then writes off people's medical debt that they would otherwise be hounded for.

Unwrap the Ribbons
A FREE seven day workshop to help you successfully navigate cancer

During This Powerful 7-Day Workshop You’ll Learn:
How Food & Supplements Influence Chemo
Foods and supplements can promote or prevent cancer growth and spread. You will learn what foods promote and what foods prevent cancer - some will surprise you. You gain confidence in the nutrition you need.
Personalizing Your Protocol: How To Choose What’s Right For YOU
Every individual is unique. Some genes may make you extra sensitive to toxins and deficient in nutrients. Knowing your genes lets you leverage your genetic strengths and manage your genetic weaknesses.
Three people can all have the same cancer (for example, ER/PR+ HER2- breast cancer). In a post menopausal woman, Western medicine will treat them all the same without finding the root cause of the cancer. One may have been prompted by toxins, another by stress and the third by blood sugar imbalance. Prioritizing your protocol with a personalized plan (say that three times fast ;o) that addresses your root cause is critical to your success. You will learn how to identify your genetic strengths and weaknesses.
What Foods Feed Cancer
Do you go vegan or keto? Is fruit OK? What is the best protein powder? You will learn what the latest science says.
The Mindset Necessary To Successfully Navigate Cancer (An Excerpt From My Book)
Oh _____! I have cancer, now what? Can you imagine shaking hands with the grim reaper and walking away better for the experience? You will learn that the most important aspect of your healing is your mindset. How do you get your mindset in the right place? And importantly, you'll learn how to keep it there.
Equipment You Need Beyond Nutrition And Supplements
Learn what equipment will provide even more leverage against cancer. What is a RIFE machine? How important is a rebounder? Should you invest in a BEMER - pulsed EMF generator? What is ozone therapy and is it important for my healing? Is an infrared sauna useful? We will discuss all these and more. There is much more to successfully navigating cancer than what diet and supplements to take. You will learn your options.
Full Q&A, Ask Me Anything
You get a full hour of asking questions and getting real answers.

Where are my outdoor enthusiasts at? Arborvitae is calling your name! It has a rich woodsy aroma that will take you to your favorite place outdoors. Not only does it smell amazing, but it also promotes some incredible benefits:
• Spray on surfaces as a DIY cleaner
• When applied topically, promotes clear skin - it helped me heal a spot that wouldn't heal for months - I wonder what they would have found if they had biopsied it...
• Promotes a peaceful environment when diffused

Yes, I am in Playa del Carmen enjoying the Mexican Riviera Sun right now but still enjoy Arborvitae

Give Arborvitae a try! It’s 10% off all month long. - http://rpb.li/qIeHx
