Wear face covering!!!! please share this... (and check your ER stock and your tool bench to see if you have any N95's to donate). Take control of your own life...We have had it ingrained in us to do "what the evidence shows"...well folks, sorry to be the first to tell you this, but they have been 'shielding' us from the full information and debate. I read a CDC MMWR weeks ago and they knew that the source of the infection on the cruise ships were asymptomatic crew members and for the period of time before symptoms. So, whatever they say (or some states are still not getting on board), wearing masks in any size group of people, or vicinity of people, or buildings other than your own home is a GOOD thing....to hell with "there is no evidence"...common sense trumps...pun intended.
A GOOD FACE COVERING: You want a secure fit (straps better than elastic); form fitting (I've seen some made of old bra cups), 2 layers of fabric with a removable filter (cut up a fleece scarf, or a folded wash cloth), disinfect after use (UV light...even a cloudy day, 1 hour each side...filter separately...or handwash w/beach), hang it up out of traffic so it's not bumped, notice the white fabric...if you can sew...add this pocket so you can fit a piece of wire in to form fit it to your nose(several twisties twisted together, pad ends if have to). HANDLE ONLY BY EAR STRAPS...if you handle the front of it...you've contaminated your hands...Untie bottom strap first (having used a bow to tie it)...pull off using the loose tie at the back...even if you've tied it in a knot, which I do...this is the big secret that they did not elaborate on, when they said "people don't wear them correctly anyway"...I think you can handle this detail...I BELIEVE in YOU!
Weeks ago, before I made a mask, I had a wide fleece neck ruff that I pulled up over my nose & mouth and loosely wound my silk(probably polyester) scarf loosely around that....handling only the parts that were by my ears as I took it off. Did you know that I was a fashion model? Yah! stay well dear friends...send me your email if you want the pattern that was researched and approved by U of Maryland Health System.
