🎒 BACK-TO-SCHOOL HEALTH CHECKLIST

A new school year means new routines, new activities, and a lot of time spent learning. Before the first bell rings, here are 7 things every parent should check:

☐ 1. Schedule a Well-Child Visit
A yearly checkup is a great opportunity to monitor your child’s growth and development, review their overall health, and address any concerns before the school year gets busy.

☐ 2. Get Their Vision Checked 👀
Children may not realize their vision has changed. Difficulty seeing the board, frequent headaches, squinting, or sitting unusually close to screens can all be signs that their vision needs to be evaluated.

☐ 3. Don’t Forget Hearing 👂
Hearing plays an important role in language development and classroom learning. If your child frequently asks you to repeat yourself, turns the volume up very high, or seems to have trouble following directions, consider having their hearing checked.

☐ 4. Reset Their Sleep Schedule 😴
Kids often shift to later bedtimes during summer. Start moving bedtime and wake-up time earlier before school begins. Consistent sleep helps support attention, mood, memory, and learning.

☐ 5. Build a Better Breakfast 🍳
A balanced breakfast can help provide the energy kids need to start their day. Aim for a combination of protein, whole grains or other complex carbohydrates, and fruit when possible.

☐ 6. Check Their Backpack & Posture 🎒
A backpack that is too heavy or worn incorrectly can contribute to neck, shoulder, and back discomfort. Choose a properly fitted backpack, use both shoulder straps, and keep unnecessary items at home.

☐ 7. Talk About Stress & Mental Health ❤️
Back-to-school can bring excitement, but it can also bring anxiety and stress. Ask open-ended questions about friends, schoolwork, teachers, and anything they may be worried about. Sometimes simply knowing they have someone to talk to makes a big difference.

Save this checklist and send it to another parent before school starts! 📚

You don’t have to be in pain to be injured.

In fact, around 50% of the ACL tears we see don’t come into the clinic with pain as their main complaint — and some have no pain at all.

That’s why pain, while incredibly important, isn’t always the most important symptom.

Your body can compensate for an injury long before it starts hurting. Changes in stability, strength, balance, mobility, or the way a joint moves can sometimes be the first signs that something isn’t right.

Think of pain as one piece of the puzzle — not the entire picture.

So if something feels unstable, weaker than usual, different, or just off, don’t automatically assume you’re fine because it doesn’t hurt.

At MultiCare, we look beyond where it hurts to understand how your body is moving and why.

Sometimes, the best time to address a problem is before it becomes painful.

08/26/2026

You don’t have to be an athlete to get injured.

You can get hurt from overuse—pushing your body harder than it’s prepared to handle.

You can also get hurt from underuse—when your body isn’t conditioned for the amount of activity you suddenly ask of it.

And sometimes, the problem is simply not moving enough. Limited mobility, weakness and poor movement patterns can leave your body less prepared for everyday demands.

That’s why taking care of your body shouldn’t only happen when something hurts.

Chiropractic care can be part of a proactive approach to movement and wellness—helping you address mobility and movement concerns early and continue working toward keeping your body moving well.

You don’t have to wait until something goes wrong to start taking care of your body. Keep moving. Keep strengthening. Keep working on your mobility. And pay attention to what your body is telling you.

😴 You can’t exercise your way out of bad sleep.

Sleep might be the most important lifestyle habit you’re overlooking.

You can have the perfect workout routine.
You can eat a nutrient-dense diet.
You can take every supplement on the shelf.

But if you consistently aren’t getting quality sleep, you’re leaving a LOT on the table.

Poor sleep can impact:
• Recovery and muscle growth
• Energy and exercise performance
• Hunger and cravings
• Focus and memory
• Mood and stress
• Metabolic health

Your body does some of its most important recovery work while you sleep.

So before chasing another supplement, workout hack, or “longevity” trend…

Forget the fancy longevity hacks. Do these 5 things.

You don’t need supplements, cold plunges, or biohacking trends to stay healthy.

Start with the basics 👇

1️⃣ Build strength
Muscle keeps you independent as you age.
You need it for daily life: stairs, groceries, getting up, staying active.
Stay strong enough to live well.

2️⃣ Walk every day
Walking keeps you active without overthinking it.
It supports heart health and prevents a sedentary lifestyle.
Just keep moving.

3️⃣ Train your balance
Balance declines if you don’t use it.
Simple single-leg work or stability exercises are enough.
Stay steady on your feet.

4️⃣ Eat whole foods
Focus on protein, fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, and healthy fats.
No need for perfection.
Just eat mostly real food.

5️⃣ Do cardio
Your heart needs training too.
Walk, cycle, swim, run — anything that gets you breathing harder.
Build an engine that lasts.

Longevity isn’t a hack.
It’s consistency with the basics.

Which one are you neglecting? 👇

Pain doesn’t always equal damage.

A great example? Heel pain and calcaneal bone spurs.

You can have a bone spur on your heel for years without ever experiencing pain. Then, an inflammatory flare-up occurs, the surrounding tissues become irritated, and suddenly that same area starts hurting.

The spur didn’t suddenly appear—and it may not even be the primary source of the pain.

This is why imaging findings don’t always tell the whole story. Your symptoms, movement, activity, and the surrounding tissues all matter when figuring out what’s actually causing your pain.

Pain is real—but pain doesn’t always mean something is being damaged.

08/06/2026

You can’t outheal your diet. 🥗💪

Your body is constantly repairing, recovering, and rebuilding—but it needs the right fuel to do it.

The foods you eat can influence inflammation, energy levels, muscle recovery, and your body’s ability to heal. While chiropractic care can help improve how you move and function, nutrition helps provide the building blocks your body uses every day.

You don’t have to eat perfectly. Start with the basics:
🥩 Prioritize protein
🥬 Eat more fruits and vegetables
💧 Stay hydrated
🌾 Choose mostly whole foods

Small, consistent choices can make a big difference over time. Take care of your body from the inside out.
