North Star Oregon is currently hiring Direct Support Professionals in multiple counties throughout Oregon, along with a Social Media Specialist to help us share stories, resources, and opportunities with the communities we serve.

We are always looking for compassionate, dependable people who want to make a positive difference in the lives of the individuals we support.

REALITY: With the right support, many individuals with I/DD live rich, self-directed lives in their own homes and communities.

That's exactly what attendant care is designed to do — not to take over someone's life, but to support the life they want to live. Cooking their own meals. Managing their schedule. Making their own choices.

The communities here show up for each other. From Grants Pass to Eugene to Salem, we see it every day — neighbors helping neighbors, families advocating for their loved ones, and DSPs pouring their hearts into work that matters.
North Star Oregon exists because of these communities. And we don't take that for granted.

When we started North Star Oregon, we had one guiding belief: every individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserves support that's built around who they are — not around what's convenient for a system.
Person-centered care means listening first. It means asking "What matters to you?" before we ask "What do you need?" It means goals are set by the individual, not for them.
Five years in, that belief hasn't changed. It's gotten stronger.
To the families, DSPs, case managers, and community partners who trust us with this work — thank you. We don't take it lightly.

At North Star Oregon, people come first — always.

Our work is centered on one simple belief: when DSPs are supported, respected, and valued, the individuals and families we serve receive more consistent, higher-quality care.

We know that DSPs come to this work from different paths, and we honor that.

For family members who also serve as DSPs, we recognize that caring for a loved one is a lifetime of experience. That lived knowledge matters, which is why parent and family DSPs are paid at the top of our pay range $26/hour (39/hour OT).

For career DSPs, compensation is based on experience and skill:

$26/hour ($39/hour OT) for DSPs with extensive experience

$25/hour ($37.50/hour OT) for DSPs with solid, mid-level experience

$24/hour ($36/hour OT) for DSPs who are newer to the field or building experience

Overtime is available to anyone who works it but not forced, with no extra approval processes.

At North Star Oregon, we also focus on making day-to-day work easier and less stressful:

Full benefits and a 401(k) with a 3% match

Simple, straightforward timekeeping and documentation.

Clear communication and responsive support

Real people — accessible by phone, text, or email at ANY TIME, weekends, days, nights, always. Not multiple departments and getting lost in the search for help.

We are intentionally not a large, impersonal organization. As we grow, we remain committed to staying accessible, responsive, and grounded in the community.

Our goal is to support DSPs in meaningful ways so they can continue to support individuals and families with dignity, consistency, and superior care.

Our Day Support Activities (DSA) are all about getting out into the community and experiencing the world beyond four walls. While we love arts & crafts and bowling, there’s a special kind of magic that happens when we step into nature.

We believe in the healing power of the great outdoors. From reducing stress to boosting moods and building confidence, exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest is a vital part of our programs. It’s where connections are made, laughter is shared, and horizons are expanded.
