🌈 Pride Month Education Series 🌈
Throughout the month of June, I’ll be sharing articles and educational resources that explore inclusivity, healthcare access, and creating safe spaces within the wellness and bodywork professions.
Today’s article, “Not Trendy, Just Timely,” from ABMP (Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals), discusses working with transgender and gender-diverse clients in a respectful, individualized, and client-centered way.

One of the things I love most about massage therapy is that every body tells a different story. As therapists, our role is not to judge, assume, or define someone’s experience. Our role is to listen, provide compassionate care, and create a space where people feel safe, respected, and supported.
Research continues to show that many LGBTQ+ individuals have experienced barriers to healthcare and may delay seeking care due to previous negative experiences. Small acts of respect, clear communication, informed consent, and inclusive practices can make a meaningful difference in a person’s healthcare journey.
At Mother Maiden Crone, I believe healing spaces should be welcoming to all people and all bodies. Whether you come seeking pain relief, relaxation, nervous system support, recovery, or simply a moment to breathe, you deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
I encourage you to take a few moments to read today’s article and join me in continuing to learn, grow, and support one another.
❤️ Every body is worthy of care.
🧡 Every person deserves respect.
💛 Healing happens best when people feel safe.
A couple years ago, I got a call from a massage therapist who had a very special transgender client who’d educated him about how important massage therapy was to his surgical recovery and self-esteem.
