Get to know our staff!

Sheila Taylor graduated from Rosalind Franklin University/The Chicago Medical School in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Over the course of her career, Sheila has worked with neurological, geriatric, sports medicine and orthopedic patients. Her love is neurological as she finds these cases to be more of a challenge in piecing the puzzle together to get the patient back to function. Growing up in Gurnee, Sheila was an athletic trainer for her high school. The head trainer asked her what she wanted to pursue in college and she was not sure but knew she wanted to work with people in a medical capacity. Sheila was then introduced to a physical therapist and after watching what he did and how he helped his patients, she knew that was her career path! About a year and a half ago, Sheila was involved in a serious car accident and she suddenly found herself on the other side of the PT equation – she was not the patient. Sheila credits her work as a PT in giving her the insight into what a patient goes through from initial injury to rehabilitation, to coming home and getting back to work. She knows now the hard work you must put into being a patient if you want to get back to 100% – you have to put in the time and desire. Sheila’s accident gave her a better perspective and empathy for what her patients are going through but she also knows that you can get back to a functional lifestyle if you are willing to work hard.

Community Update ❤️

The food drive at Tony’s Butcher Shop — with the help of all of you — has been absolutely overwhelming in the best way. So far, we estimate we’ve been able to feed over 150 families, and we have just as many, if not more, reaching out who still need help. And we’re going to keep going.

I want to give a massive shout-out to Grayslake Rehabilitation for coming in with an amazingly generous donation that will allow us to give away hundreds of pounds of meat. That support means the world — and it means a lot of families are going to have real meals on the table this week.

Every family that comes in doesn’t need to prove anything.
No forms.
No qualifications.
No embarrassing hoops to jump through.

I don’t believe people should ever have to beg to feed their family.

Every family that comes in is going home with:
• Beef
• Chicken
• Pork
• Potatoes
• Pasta
• Corn
• Eggs
• And a bunch of great pantry items and sides
so they can cook a real meal, not just try to piece something together.

I’ll be honest — there was a moment in the beginning where I thought:
“Is this risky? We’re a small business. Can we really do this?”

But I trusted my gut.
And I trusted all of you.

And I wasn’t wrong.

This community showed up in ways I couldn’t have even imagined. It’s actually beautiful. In spite of everything happening in the world — the division, the arguing, the stress, the fear — people chose to help each other.

People chose kindness.

If you still need help, message me.
If you’d like to help, we are still accepting:
• Boxed sides (rice, pasta, potatoes, etc.)
• Bread
• Canned goods
• Or monetary donations to purchase more meat

No one in our community should go hungry.
Not on our watch.

Thank you all. Truly.
Let’s keep going. ❤️

Reasons Pelvic Floor PT is a MUST after having a baby
(no matter whether 2 months or 12 yrs post partum!)

Restore before baby posture and muscle function (addressing areas like abdominals, upper back muscles, chest muscles, lower back muscles, buttocks)

Improve / restore good deep breathing abilities

Optimize child care and feeding positioning and body mechanics

Improve and learn self treatment for scar tissue mobility

Learn how to improve bladder control to avoid peeing too frequently during the day or nighttime.

Have your pelvic floor muscles assessed (if desired) to learn how to self treat sore or tight muscles to prevent pain with in*******se, prolonged sitting/standing, exercise, or any other activities of daily living that pelvic pain may limit you from completing.

Learn how to retrain and strengthen the pelvic floor and surrounding hip muscles to prevent urinary leakage with jumping, bending, coughing, sneezing, laughing

GLR’s pelvic floor therapists recommend 4-6 visits post partum, but even one can make a huge difference! Visits can be attended with child(ren) and can be in person or telehealth if needed.
Call GLR today, 847-223-8001, to schedule treatment and start working to get back in control of your body!

GLR provides seamless integration of Physical Therapy Services, Wellness and Fitness Programs to provide preventative and Rehabilitation care to our community.
