🚨 LET’S CLEAR UP SOME CONFUSION ABOUT OUR POLICY 🚨

After reading some of the comments and questions on our recent policy update, we realize there seems to be some confusion about what certain parts of our policy actually mean. We want to explain everything as clearly as possible. 🖤

🖤 DEPOSITS, ART FEES & CUSTOM DESIGNS

At Y’ALLTERNATIVE Ink, we typically do not release custom artwork before the day of your appointment. This is simply to protect our artists and the work they create.

Unfortunately, tattoo artists regularly deal with people taking custom designs that an artist spent HOURS creating and having them tattooed somewhere else.

Custom artwork is also created on our artists’ own time. Depending on the size and complexity of a tattoo, an artist may spend 6, 8, or even 12 hours at home drawing, arranging, changing, and perfecting a design while also trying to spend time with their family.

That drawing time is part of the work that goes into your tattoo—even though you don’t physically see those hours happening.

🎨 SO WHAT IS THE ART FEE FOR SEEING YOUR DESIGN EARLY?

If you would like your custom artwork released to you before your appointment, arrangements may be made for an art/drawing fee.

When this fee is charged specifically for the early release of your artwork, it is credited toward the final price of your tattoo. It is not simply an extra charge added on top of your tattoo price.

The purpose is to give our artist some protection before releasing custom artwork outside of the shop.

Once artwork is sent electronically, we cannot control what happens to it. Someone could save the design, cancel their appointment, and take an artist’s work somewhere else.

Designs sent electronically may also have a large watermark placed over them for additional protection.

⚠️ BOOKED CLIENTS TAKE PRIORITY

We also want to clarify something regarding when artwork is completed.

Messaging us about a tattoo idea does not mean you have a booked appointment.

If you have messaged us, discussed an idea, sent reference photos, or even had preliminary work started, but you have not actually secured an appointment with the required deposit, your artwork will naturally be a lower priority than artwork for clients who already have confirmed appointments.

Our artists may have several custom pieces they are working on at the same time. Designs have to be prioritized according to confirmed appointment dates.

Once your appointment is booked and your required deposit is paid, your design is added into your artist’s workload according to your scheduled appointment date.

We simply cannot put unconfirmed inquiries ahead of paying clients who already have appointments approaching.

🚨 THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN’T MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR TATTOO

We absolutely WANT you to love your tattoo.

Our policy does not mean that you have to accept a design exactly as it is or get something tattooed on you that you don’t like.

Reasonable changes can absolutely be discussed with your artist.

Want a flower moved? That’s fine.

Need something made a little smaller? We can discuss it.

Want wording adjusted or a detail changed? That’s completely reasonable.

A reasonable adjustment is very different from changing the entire concept and requiring the artist to completely start over.

If you arrive for your appointment and decide you want an entirely different tattoo or request changes substantial enough that your artist has to discard the original custom artwork and create a new design, an additional redesign/drawing fee and/or rescheduling may be required.

That is separate from the fee described above for releasing artwork early.

A redesign fee is for NEW drawing work being requested after the artist has already invested hours creating the original custom piece based on the information and references provided by the client.

By the time you arrive for your appointment, your artist may have already:

• Spent hours creating your custom artwork
• Reserved several hours of their schedule specifically for you
• Traveled to the shop
• Prepared for your appointment
• Set up their station
• Used supplies specifically for your service

That is why completely starting over cannot always be treated the same as making a few reasonable adjustments.

💰 OUR DEPOSIT POLICY

As stated in our updated policy, ALL tattoo appointments require a deposit—including shop-minimum tattoos.

🖤 Tattoos UNDER $200: 30% deposit
🖤 Tattoos $200 AND OVER: $100 deposit
🖤 All deposits are non-refundable
🖤 At least 48 hours’ notice is required to reschedule

Your deposit secures your appointment and is separate from any additional fee that may become necessary if a major redesign is requested.

🖤 WHY DO WE HAVE THESE POLICIES?

These policies are NOT meant to make booking difficult, stop clients from having input, or force anyone to get a tattoo they don’t love.

We WANT you to communicate with us.
We WANT you to love your design.
We WILL work with you on reasonable changes.

At the same time, we have to protect our artists’ time and artwork.

We cannot spend hours creating custom artwork for people who have not secured appointments while putting confirmed clients on the back burner.

We also cannot release custom artwork without some form of protection against that artwork being taken elsewhere.

And when an artist has already spent hours creating a design based on the concept provided, we cannot expect them to completely start over and spend several more hours creating an entirely different piece without accounting for that additional work.

Our artists’ time has value. Our artwork has value. And our clients deserve to have their appointment time and artwork given the attention they paid to reserve. 🖤

If our policies aren’t a good fit for you, that’s completely okay. There are plenty of talented artists and shops to choose from.

But when you choose to book with Y’ALLTERNATIVE Ink, you are also agreeing to respect our artists, our time, our artwork, and our policies.

Hopefully this clears up the confusion and better explains what we meant in our original policy update. 🖤

🚨 IMPORTANT BOOKING & APPOINTMENT POLICY UPDATE 🚨

We hate that we even have to make this post, but after an incident today, we need to make our policies VERY clear moving forward.

At Y’ALLTERNATIVE Ink, we work hard to create a welcoming, family-friendly environment with good vibes where our clients and the people they bring with them feel comfortable, respected, and taken care of. 🖤

We love what we do, but we also need our artists, their artwork, and their time to be respected.

Today, a client was given the option to view her custom artwork before her appointment for an art fee. She declined and stated that she trusted her artist. When she arrived for her appointment, she decided she did not like the design. She was informed that completely redesigning the tattoo would require an additional fee due to the extra drawing time, along with the time the artist had already spent traveling to the shop, preparing for the appointment, setting up her station, and reserving that appointment time specifically for her.

Instead of discussing the situation, the client told her husband to start the car and left.

That type of behavior toward our artists and their time will NOT be accepted.

🎨 CUSTOM ARTWORK TAKES TIME

Something we really want our clients to understand is that the time you spend in our chair is NOT the only time your artist spends working on your tattoo.

Our customized artwork is often created outside of shop hours, at home, during our personal time with our families.

Depending on the size, detail, and complexity of your tattoo, an artist may spend 6, 8, or even 12 HOURS drawing, changing, arranging, and perfecting your design before you ever walk through our doors.

That is real work and real time.

Our artwork is part of the service we provide, and our drawing time has value. Asking an artist to completely redesign a custom piece after they’ve already spent hours creating it means asking them to start over and give up even more of their personal and family time.

This is why major redesigns may require an additional art fee.

Because of situations like this, we are changing and strictly enforcing our booking policies moving forward:

💰 ALL TATTOOS WILL NOW REQUIRE A DEPOSIT — REGARDLESS OF PRICE.

This includes tattoos booked at our shop minimum. There will no longer be appointments held without a deposit simply because the tattoo is under $200.

Our NEW deposit policy will be:

🖤 Tattoos UNDER $200: A 30% deposit of the estimated tattoo price will be required to book.

🖤 Tattoos $200 AND OVER: A $100 deposit will be required to book.

ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Your deposit secures your appointment time and goes toward the work and preparation involved in your appointment. Your appointment is not considered fully secured until the required deposit has been received.

🖤 CUSTOM ARTWORK
We typically do NOT release custom designs until the day of your appointment.

If you would like to see your artwork beforehand, arrangements can be made for an art/drawing fee, and designs sent electronically may be watermarked.

Minor adjustments can usually be discussed with your artist. However, completely changing the original concept or requesting a major redraw may require an additional art fee.

🖤 48-HOUR RESCHEDULING POLICY
If you need to reschedule, you MUST give us at least 48 hours’ notice.

With proper notice, you will not be charged an additional cancellation fee. We understand that life happens, and we’re happy to work with you when we’re given enough notice to try to fill your appointment.

🖤 SAME-DAY CANCELLATIONS
We understand that emergencies happen. However, a same-day cancellation still means your artist has reserved that time, potentially spent HOURS creating your artwork, traveled to the shop, and may no longer have an opportunity to fill your spot.

Because of this, applicable cancellation fees may still be charged regardless of the reason for the same-day cancellation.

🖤 NO-CALL/NO-SHOWS & WALKOUTS
Moving forward, a valid card may be required to secure appointments.

A no-call/no-show or walking out of a scheduled appointment after your artist has prepared for your service may result in your deposit being forfeited AND a cancellation fee equal to 30% of the scheduled service being charged to the card on file.

Clients who intentionally no-call/no-show or walk out may also be refused future services at our shop.

🖤 RESPECT GOES BOTH WAYS
We will ALWAYS treat our clients with kindness, patience, and respect, and we expect the same treatment toward every artist in our shop.

Our artists are people too. We have families, children, responsibilities, and lives outside of tattooing.

When an artist spends 6–12 hours drawing your tattoo at home, drives to the shop, prepares their station, sets up specifically for you, and blocks several hours out of their schedule, that is real time and real work.

That time cannot simply be given back to them because someone decides to walk out, cancel at the last minute, or not show up.

We are known for being a peaceful, loving, family-friendly shop with awesome vibes, and we intend to keep it that way. 🖤 We love taking care of our clients AND the people they bring with them.

Because of that, we will not tolerate disrespectful, aggressive, intentionally disruptive, or mean behavior toward our artists, clients, or guests.

These policies are NOT meant to punish our amazing clients who respect our time. They’re here to protect our artists and allow us to continue giving every person who walks through our doors the time, attention, artwork, and experience they deserve.

We truly appreciate every client who respects our time, trusts our artists, communicates with us, and understands that there is so much more work involved in your tattoo than just the hours you spend in the chair. 🖤

Thank you for continuing to support Y’ALLTERNATIVE Ink.

By booking an appointment with us, you acknowledge and agree to our deposit, artwork, cancellation, no-show, rescheduling, and appointment policies.
