Thank you to the Legacy League for inviting Dr. Mary Jean Stack to join the panel at last week’s Power of Presence Salon at Neiman Marcus!

It was an honor to be part of such a meaningful conversation and to connect with an inspiring community of women. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share, learn, and celebrate the power of showing up with confidence and purpose.

Sleep is important for recovery! PT wizard explains! Here are 5 easy tips to start with!

Sleep is one of the most powerful tools for recovery. 😴

While you sleep, your body repairs tissues, supports muscle growth, regulates inflammation, and restores the energy needed for movement and healing. Poor sleep can increase pain sensitivity, reduce performance, and slow your progress.

Exercise and physical therapy matter—but quality sleep is part of the recovery plan, too. Aim for a consistent routine and give your body the rest it needs to rebuild. 💪

Recovering after surgery? Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training may help you rebuild strength when heavy lifting is not yet appropriate. 💪

Using a specialized cuff and low-resistance exercises, BFR can help stimulate muscle growth, reduce strength loss, and support a gradual return to activity—all while limiting stress on healing tissues.

Ask your GFPT Doctor of Physical Therapy whether BFR could benefit your post-operative rehabilitation!

Does your kid walk on their toes?

A pediatric physical therapist can assess walking patterns, strength, balance, flexibility, and ankle mobility to help identify what may be contributing to toe walking.

Toe walking can have different causes, so early evaluation is important. JJ can help!

PT Wizard is talking mattresses! 😴 Waking up with aches and pains? Your mattress might be part of the problem.

An old, sagging, or unsupportive mattress can place extra pressure on sensitive areas and make it harder to keep your spine comfortably aligned while you sleep. A supportive new mattress may help you:

✨ Sleep in a more comfortable position
✨ Reduce pressure on sore joints
✨ Feel less stiff in the morning
✨ Get better-quality, more restorative sleep

Tennis elbow is an overuse injury caused by irritation of the tendons on the outside of the elbow. Despite the name, you don’t have to play tennis to develop it!

Common signs include:
• Pain when gripping or lifting
• Tenderness on the outside of the elbow
• Reduced grip strength

Rest from aggravating activities, gradual strengthening, and guidance from a qualified healthcare professional can help. Persistent or worsening pain should always be assessed.

Your comeback starts with the right recovery plan- if you aren’t sure what to do ask Alesa or one of our PT’s!

When you get an injury, you’re supposed to rest. But is there a right way to rest? Talk to a PT after an acute injury so we can better assess your case and keep you moving in a safe and healthy way. This will speed up a longer term recovery process.
