As beautifully reflected in Andrea Berger’s obituary, Andrea Ines Berger (née Bell), 83, of Wallingford, CT, passed away peacefully on 5/17/2026.
Born and raised in New York City, Queens, she later lived in Syracuse, New York, where her first child was born. Shortly thereafter, while expecting her second child, she and her husband David E. Berger moved to Connecticut, where they lived for the remainder of their lives together.
She attended Boston University, where she studied English, and began her career working in copywriting at a publishing house and as an executive secretary at a copper industry association in the Chrysler Building in New York City. Later, while raising her family, she worked part-time as an administrative assistant for many years so she would be home when her children returned from school.
She was the beloved wife of her husband David for 59 years. They met at the wedding of their closest friends. Andrea and David’s marriage was a lasting partnership built on love, patience, and mutual respect.
She was the devoted mother of a son, William A. Berger, MD and daughter, Michelle S. Berger, and a proud grandmother of four grandsons and one granddaughter, all of whom were the great joy of her life. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael S. Bell.
Andrea was known for her calm, patient, and gentle nature; she created a home filled with warmth and steadiness. She had a lifelong love of classic films, especially Gone with the Wind, and took quiet pleasure in life’s simple moments, particularly time spent with family and friends.
She will be remembered for her unwavering support and presence-always there for her family through every stage of life. Her love, strength, and kindness leave a legacy in the lives of those she touched.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and all who knew her. May her memory be for a blessing.
