A Bee Yoga Fusion student in her 70’s!

In this class, everyone is on a mat; you can wear tennis shoes if you want to (I do). And we use handweights, where each person chooses the level of poundage for themselves. We go through movements using the hand weights to build strength, balance, and mobility. And I always throw in core work, because all of us can use that! Then we end class with some deep stretches. It’s a 50-minute class and open to all levels.

I’m Gretchen, the heart behind Bee Yoga Fusion.

This space has grown slowly and intentionally over the years… from a small home studio to the community it is today in Historic Greenbelt, Maryland. A place where people come not just to move their bodies, but to feel better in them. To breathe a little deeper. To reconnect with themselves.

I wear a lot of hats… health and life coach, yoga teacher, personal trainer, small business owner, wife and mom. But what matters most to me is creating something real. A space where you don’t have to be the fittest, the most flexible, or have it all figured out.

Most of the folks who walk through our doors are navigating full lives. Careers, families, stress, big questions about what’s next. And somewhere along the way, they’ve learned to put themselves last.

This is where that starts to shift.

At Bee Yoga Fusion, we focus on building strength, moving with intention, and creating space for self-care that actually feels sustainable. No extremes. No pressure. Just small, meaningful steps that add up over time.

And the best part… you don’t have to do it alone.

Strong bodies feel more supported. Grounded bodies move through life with more ease.

In this Strong & Grounded Yoga Workshop we will blend yoga and strength training in a way that feels approachable, steady, and supportive for all levels. You’ll learn simple movements that build strength in the hips, legs, core, and upper body while staying connected to breath and balance. No complicated routines. No pressure to keep up.

The goal is sustainability. You’ll leave with a 15–20 minute sequence you can practice at home that helps you feel stronger, more stable, and more confident in your body each day. And all from the comfort of a chair! That’s right- mid day break to built into the day!

If you love yoga but know your body could benefit from more strength, this workshop will show you how the two work beautifully together.

Movement is not something reserved for athletes or people who “work out.”

It is a birthright.

Your body was built to bend, reach, squat, carry, twist, and walk across this planet.

The modern world has slowly taken those movements away from us. We sit more. We outsource physical effort. We live inside climate controlled spaces and forget that our bodies are designed to interact with the real world.

But it is never too late to reclaim movement.

Walk more.
Stretch in the morning.
Carry your groceries instead of rolling them.
Spend time in the garden.

Movement woven through the day will always serve you better than punishing yourself for one hour at the gym.

Here is a stretch to try today, stand sideways next to a chair and place a knee in the seat of the chair. Holding on to the back of the chair stretch your opposite arm up and over. Feel as though you are pushing your hips away from the chair.
Inhale as you open your arm out to the side, exhale as you reach the arm up and over.

A Bee Yoga Fusion community gathering centered around books. You don’t need to prepare. Just come as you are.

Bring the story you recently read. We’ll gather to share what’s been moving us, surprising us, or simply keeping us company lately. If you’re inclined, you are also welcome to bring a book to swap. A story you’ve finished and are ready to release forward. No pressure here either. Listening counts just as much as sharing.

This isn’t a book club in the traditional sense. It’s a circle of people who love books, stories, and meaningful conversation. A reminder that reading doesn’t have to be solitary, structured, or perfect. Sometimes it just needs a place to land.

When: Wednesday, March 11th at 7:30pm
(right after the Small Group Personal Training class and the Flow to Yin class)
