Trust is one of the most important foundations of ANY healthy relationship. Whether it’s a marriage, friendship, family relationship, or even a relationship with yourself.

And trust isn’t just about being honest. It’s about consistency, communication, respecting boundaries, and creating a safe place where people feel heard and understood.

One thing I talk about often in my coaching is that healthy relationships aren’t built on perfection. They’re built on two people willing to communicate, take accountability, and grow.

At Hello New Beginnings, I help individuals navigate:

* Relationship challenges & communication
* Codependency & people-pleasing
* Anxiety & emotional well-being
* Sobriety & recovery
* Boundaries, self-worth & personal growth

You don’t have to navigate everything alone. Let’s work toward healthier relationships and a healthier YOU!

People pleasing can make us believe that good communication means making sure everyone is happy with us. It doesn’t.

Sometimes we over-explain, avoid saying what we really feel, say “it’s fine” when it isn’t, or become passive-aggressive when our unspoken needs aren’t met. These can all show up in codependency.

Healthy communication looks different.

It’s learning to say what you mean clearly, kindly, and directly—without trying to control how the other person receives it.

You can explain yourself.
You can express your needs.
You can set a boundary.

But you don’t have to keep explaining until someone agrees with you.

Communicate clearly. Let go of the need to convince.

That’s where healthier relationships begin.

My new recording device finally came in last week, which means I officially get to start recording notes for my memoir.

A friend recently asked me, “What’s the main thing you want people to take away from your book?”

And I really had to think about that.

I want people to see what can come from the storms we never thought we would survive. The shame we carried. The secrets we thought we had to keep. The seasons of low self-worth, wrong choices, heartbreak, fear, and wondering how in the world we were ever going to find our way through.

Because my story isn’t about having it all figured out or getting everything right.

It’s about resilience. Perseverance. Getting back up when life knocks you down. Learning who I am and, more importantly, who God says I am.

It’s also about what happens when we stop allowing shame and secrets to keep us stuck and start listening for God’s voice—even when His plan looks nothing like the one we had for ourselves.

If someone closes my book and thinks, “Maybe my story isn’t over either. Maybe God can still use mine too,” then I will have accomplished exactly what I hoped to.

Because sometimes the parts of our story we tried the hardest to hide become the very parts God uses to help someone else feel less alone.

Are You Trying to Understand Your Way Out of the Pain?

Think about that for a second.

How many of us have done this? Something hurts, so we analyze it, replay it, research it, dissect every conversation, and keep searching for the one answer that will finally make the pain go away.

But sometimes understanding becomes another coping mechanism.

We don’t always need a substance to avoid uncomfortable feelings. Sometimes we use overthinking, researching, fixing, helping, controlling, staying busy—or constantly searching for answers.

And listen, I LOVE understanding the why. 😂 It’s part of who I am and a huge part of the work I do.

But I’m learning there comes a point when there’s nothing left to figure out.

Sometimes healing sounds like:

“I understand enough. Now I have to let myself feel it.”

That applies to heartbreak, grief, relationships, recovery, anxiety, family—the things we wish we could think our way out of.

You don’t have to solve every painful feeling.

Sometimes you have to feel it, process it, and let it move through you.

And yes… I’m talking to myself here too. ❤️

Am I really a controlling person?!

I would have NEVER described myself as a controlling person. And I’m guessing a lot of you wouldn’t either.

But here’s something I’ve learned through my own growth and through the work I do with others: control doesn’t always look like what we think it does.

Especially when codependency is involved.

Sometimes control looks like helping. It looks like giving advice they didn’t ask for, repeatedly explaining why someone needs to change, trying to fix their problems, managing their emotions, or working harder on their life than they are.

Sometimes it looks like staying in a marriage, relationship, friendship, or family dynamic thinking:

If I love them enough…
If I explain it one more time…
If I’m patient enough…
If I can just get them to see what I see…
Maybe they’ll change. Maybe they’ll choose us.

And THAT one can be hard to recognize.

Because our intentions may genuinely come from love. We want them healthy. We want the relationship restored. We want the family together. We want them to see their potential.

But we cannot love, coach, convince, rescue, or explain someone into changing.

A huge part of healing from codependent patterns is learning the difference between supporting someone and trying to manage their outcome.

Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is stop asking, “How do I get them to change?” and start asking, “What is mine to do, and what do I need to let go of?”

This is exactly the kind of work I help people unpack in coaching—because boundaries, codependency and letting go of control can change the way we show up in every relationship.

If this made you recognize a little bit of yourself, reach out to me at Hello New Beginnings. We can work on it together—without shame, but with a whole lot of self-awareness and growth.

Have you ever tried to convince someone to choose you?

I see this more often than you might think—in women I work with, in teenagers, and if I’m being transparent, I’ve experienced it in my own life too.

We chase. We over-explain. We try harder. We become more accommodating. We ignore our own needs. We think, Maybe if I’m patient enough, loving enough, pretty enough, helpful enough, or understanding enough…they’ll finally choose me.

But underneath all of that is often something much deeper:

Self-worth.

Somewhere along the way, many of us started believing lies about ourselves:

I’m too much.
I’m not enough.
People always leave.
I have to earn love.
If they reject me, something must be wrong with me.

Healing begins when we start challenging those lies.

Your worth was never supposed to be determined by someone else’s ability—or inability—to choose you.

Sometimes two people genuinely care about each other and still aren’t able to meet each other in the same place. Sometimes respecting another person’s decision means accepting what they’re telling you instead of trying to change their mind.

And sometimes respecting yourself means walking away even while your heart wishes things were different.

Healing isn’t learning how to stop caring.
It’s learning that you don’t have to abandon yourself to keep someone else.

That lesson has been part of my own journey, and it’s one I hope the women and teens I work with learn much earlier than I did.

Your worth isn’t up for a vote.

THE CLOSER YOU GET, THE FURTHER THEY RUN.

One of the most confusing parts of avoidant attachment is that someone can genuinely care about you…and still pull away when intimacy grows.

For someone with fearful-avoidant/disorganized attachment, closeness can activate two competing responses:

❤️ “I want connection.”
🚨 “Getting this close feels risky. Protect yourself.”

With dismissive-avoidant patterns, growing vulnerability can also bring discomfort—sometimes leading to emotional distance, shutting down, or a stronger need for independence.

And for the person on the other side? It can feel devastating and incredibly confusing.

Understanding attachment doesn’t excuse hurtful behavior—but it can help us understand what may be happening underneath it.

Watch this and see if it resonates with you…or someone you’ve loved.

Why do I keep showing up?

Well… I received a message the other day from a friend from years ago and they told me how good they have been doing and they said something else.

They told me that they have been watching me and my story, plus posts on social media for a long time and that I’ve inspired them. They said.. “Keep being amazing, we all are WATCHING!”

👆This is why I keep showing up and this is why I share my story and this is why I keep posting even through my own storms!! 🙌❤️
