Biggie’s 30 Days Of Killer Movies Powered by the legendary Woods Of Terror!

Night 10

The Believers (1987)

Streamed on MGM Plus

The Believers…. So I’m torn. Because I wouldn’t call this a horror movie. I wouldn’t even call it a scary movie. Definitely a thriller with a lot of over acting. I knew nothing of this movie going in and while intrigued it was just meh at best. It has cults, child sacrifice, crazy rich people, brief unnecessary nudity, and Martin Sheen overacting his ass off. But still that couldn’t save it. Like I said, meh at best.

Night 9

Aliens (1986)

Streamed on Netflix

Look I know there may be some push back on this one because some argue it’s more action than horror. So let’s just call it horror action. But to me it makes the Halloween list because it is also scary. Or at least I found it scary. Now this is one of my all time favorites I’ve seen it numerous times but I enjoy it more with each viewing. This of course is the sequel to Alien, and in my opinion…. A better movie. Everything about it is awesome and it’s just a great movie, action or horror it’s great.

Night 8

A Quiet Place (2018)

Streamed on Paramount Plus

I saw this in the theater with a big crowd when it first came out and I absolutely loved it. While it doesn’t have the same effect to me on the small screen it is still a great movie. Didn’t care much for the sequels but this one I really enjoy. Definitely scary, and perfect for the Halloween season. If you have not seen it here is a quick synopsis. Blind aliens who have the best hearing you could imagine invade earth and this is the story of one family fighting to survive. Great movie. Go watch it.

Biggie’s 30 Days Of Killer Movies Powered by the legendary Woods Of Terror!

Night 7

Sinners (2025)

Streamed on HBO Max

Sinners to me is not your typical scary / horror movie. It is many different things but to me the most important thing is it’s an enjoyable movie. It was several Academy Awards including Best Actor. Sinners is set in 1932 and it’s the story of two brothers who return to their hometown in Mississippi to open a Juke Joint after working for the Chicago mob for several years. The opening night is going great until the vampires show up… While this movie is not overly scary it definitely lives up to being horror movie with the vampire element. It has a tremendous soundtrack and really superb acting. While it is a little bit long overall I really enjoy this movie. I appreciated more this time because it was my second watch. I definitely recommend it.

Biggie’s 30 Days Of Killer Movies Powered by the legendary Woods Of Terror!

Night 6

Bride Of Frankenstein (1935)

Streamed on Peacock

Okay, finally a classic! This is a direct sequel to Frankenstein (1931) with many of the surviving characters returning including Frankenstein’s Monster who managed to survive the fire everyone thought killed him… And now we need to find the monster a bride. Or I should say create the monster a bride. While I’m sure in 1935 this scared the bejesus out of people but compared to modern day horror it’s rather tame. I did however enjoy it and sometimes it’s nice to just watch a classic scary movie on chilly October night. Overall I recommend it!

Biggie’s 30 Days Of Killer Movies Powered by the legendary Woods Of Terror!

Night 5

The Wailing (2016)

Streamed on Amazon Prime

The Wailing is South Korean supernatural thriller that has shown up on several best scary movies lists and it has great reviews from critics and fans alike. Here is the thing, I have absolutely no idea why. This is one of those did I miss something movies. Why do so many people love it? It’s wayyyyy too long, convoluted, not scary, and rather boring. I’m sure at least one person will say I don’t understand “cinema” and if this is cinema then I’m fine not understanding it. Oh, it’s the story of a stranger who shows up in a small town bringing some kind of sickness with him that starts to spread through the town, including to the daughter of the police officer investigating the deaths. I can’t believe I sat through this whole thing.

Night 4

Passenger (2026)

Streamed on Paramount Plus

So I know it feels like I’m only watching new horror movies right now but don’t worry, some other older ones are coming. I was really looking forward to Passenger. I had heard some good things and while it definitely had some decent jump scares and was scary I found it to be a pretty mundane cliche story. A young traveling couple ends up with an unwanted passenger. Boom. You can guess how the rest goes. While I do think it’s worth a watch for spooky season I don’t think this will go down as a classic.
