Your heart works at maximum efficiency at about 60% of max heart rate.
Higher than that heart rate goes up, but stroke volume plateaus or decreases.
Plus more stress on your body, more cortisol, and longer recovery.

Finished the time on feet today.
I had 2 goals
First - put in the time, not stop the workout short.
Second - keep my heart rate low enough for a quick recovery.

That meant throw in a bunch of walk sessions.

End of the workout I still logged 7.1 miles. Calling that a win today.

Another day, another base run

Some of you may have noticed I haven't posted in a few days. Still recovering from this cold.
Anne is crushing the miles this week.
I'm barely making 4 to 5 with a walk run plan.

Slowly feeling more myself.
Today was the best outing in over a week. Only 1:30 per mile off pace and less than half of it walked.
