Hey Friend - either it's hotter in June than it used to be or I am hotter in June than I used to be!! I rely more and more on things that keep me hydrated and cool so I thought I would just share some tips with my friends today:
***Deodorant - oh boy does it need to be working right now. I have a new favorite from Humble. It is made with simple & effective ingredients you can feel good about. Absolutely no aluminum, alcohol, parabens, talc or artificial fragrance and I can usually find it at TJ Maxx super reasonable. It really does a good job of keeping me smelling good and less wet under my arms. I mean I might even put it under my b***s sometimes LOL!
***Nutri Hydrating Mist - this little jewel from Aloette is a year round favorite but in the heat I consider it a necessity. For a special treat keep some in the fridge. I even fill little travel bottles that can go in my purse and beach/lake tote. Spray it on ALL DAY! Any time you think about it - spray it! It's going to hydrate, nourish, protect and soothe your skin and IF you do end up with too much sun then it will take out the burn and heal your skin quickly but that doesn't mean it's ok to skip that SPF either which is why I always wear an SPF moisturizer like Aloette's Mineral Shield (don't forget your ears)
***Water - I think everyone has to find that "thing" that makes them drink more water. Whether its a pretty water bottle, a Stanley with a straw or a big gallon jug - whatever it is, just do it! I can't say enough about what it does for our skin, our joints, our gut and our energy to drink a lot. What's a lot? Well the goal and recommendation is 1/2 your body weight in ounces a day. I know that may feel like a lot but I promise if you make it a priority you can do it.....who knows maybe I will pass you somewhere on the way to the bathroom LOL...yes, we will p*e more when we hit our goals! HAHA!!
***Sunglasses - This is one I have to remind myself all the time. I notice that some people grab their sunglasses instinctively but for some reason I am not one of those people. I really have to remind myself to get them on my way out the door when going for a walk and make sure there is a pair in my car all the time and in my outdoor tote bags. Why is it important? Even though my eyes seem to not be sensitive to the sunlight here is the truth about it - Sunglasses help prevent certain eye diseases related to the sun. Prolonged exposure to the sun's UV rays can lead to cataracts and macular degeneration. So grab your shades cause you also look cool in them!
***Avoid being outdoors during the hottest part of the day. This is typically from around 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., give or take. It’s the time when the sun is overhead and the heat is most intense. I know it's tempting to walk at lunch or as soon as you get off work but try to walk early or late and hydrate! Try not to plan activities in the middle of the day - even with the kids!
Well those are 5 things that are helping me get through June - I don't even know what July and August are gonna be like here in the South! I may be walking around with an umbrella to create shade every where I go!
