It can be oral function.
If your child gags on certain textures, avoids mixed foods, or struggles as textures advance… there may be more going on beneath the surface.

Things like tongue mobility, coordination, and how the sensory system processes input all play a role.

And a strong gag reflex?
That can actually be the body trying to protect the airway.

If feeding feels uncomfortable, there’s often a reason.
It could be latch, coordination, tension, or how the system is functioning as a whole.
