For Greenwood Genetic Center intern Riley Crawford, genetics is more than a field of study—it’s personal.

Diagnosed as an infant with a rare inherited eye condition that causes significant vision loss, Riley has transformed her lived experience into a passion for helping others. Through her recent internship at GGC, she gained valuable experience as she prepares for a future career in genetic counseling, with a goal of supporting families facing the same uncertainty her own family once experienced.

GGC’s cytogenetics team just returned from an engaging American Cytogenomics Conference in San Diego where they shared their expertise through four platform presentations highlighting GGC’s work — representing nearly 10% of the conference’s total presentations!

Beyond the science, the team also enjoyed reconnecting with longtime colleagues, collaborators, and former GGC team members.
