After finishing grad school, I wanted to take what I had learned here in the States and head to China to truly immerse myself in the medicine and experience it in a different setting, learn from practitioners with generations of knowledge behind them. That experience from over a decade +++ has stayed with me all these years and is still used daily.

One of the things I love most about this medicine is that it is always relevant. It doesn’t remain stagnant. It continues to evolve as we evolve as our lives change, our bodies change, and our understanding deepens.

First photo is a reminder of where I started. The next is a reflection of where that journey has brought me today, at Pointe Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine.

So much has changed over the years, but the heart of why I do this work hasn’t.

Still learning (some really exciting new things coming)
Still asking questions
Still incredibly grateful for the medicine and the people who have trusted me along the way, &to the staff that keeps us moving forward

Postpartum Depression Deserves to Be Talked About, Regularly 🤍

As a healthcare provider who works closely with fertility and pregnancy, I want to talk about something that doesn’t get nearly enough attention: what happens after the baby arrives.

We spend so much time talking about getting pregnant, supporting pregnancy, and preparing for birth but postpartum care shouldn’t end when you leave the hospital.

This summer there have been many heartbreaking stories involving postpartum depression and maternal mental health. These tragedies are a reminder that we cannot wait until someone is in crisis to start talking about support.

At Pointe Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine, we believe care doesn’t stop at conception, delivery, or the six-week postpartum visit.

We’re here for you after the baby, too.

Postpartum can look different for everyone. It might be one month. Six months. 18 months. Even years later. There is no single timeline, and there is no “right” way you’re supposed to feel.

If you’re struggling with sadness, anxiety, overwhelm, hopelessness, feeling disconnected from your baby, intrusive thoughts, or simply feeling unlike yourself, please know that you are not alone and you deserve support.

There are many forms of help, including mental health counseling, medical care, medication when appropriate, community support, and integrative approaches such as acupuncture. You don’t have to choose just one.

And if you’re worried about someone you love, check in. Ask how they’re really doing. Listen without judgment. Help them find support.

You are more than your fertility journey. You are more than your pregnancy. And you deserve care throughout your entire postpartum journey🤍

Let’s keep talking about postpartum depression not just when tragedy happens, but regularly, openly, and without shame.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a qualified healthcare or mental health professional. If there is an immediate concern for safety, seek emergency help right away.

🌑🌞🌑
TOTALITY FROM THE MEDITERRANEAN LAST NIGHT

At this time last night, we were floating in the Mediterranean just off Cala d’Hort, Ibiza, watching the moon completely cover the sun.
For a few extraordinary minutes, daylight disappeared. The temperature dropped. The horizon glowed. And everything seemed to become completely still.

It was one of those experiences that is almost impossible to put into words.

And as a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, I couldn’t help but think about Yin + Yang.

☀️ The sun represents Yang, the light, warmth, activity, expansion.
🌑 The moon represents Yin, the darkness, coolness, stillness, introspection.
During a total solar eclipse, we get to physically witness these two forces meet: Yin moving across Yang, darkness moving across light, stillness interrupting activity. Chinese medicine teaches us that health isn’t about being in one state all the time. It’s about our ability to move between them.
Rest + movement.
Darkness + light.
Stillness + activity.
Yin + Yang.
And maybe that is what made last night feel so profound.
For a few minutes, nature changed the rhythm entirely, reminding us that nothing is static, everything moves in cycles, and even the brightest Yang eventually gives way to Yin… before the light returns again.
Watching totality from a boat in the Mediterranean, off the coast of Ibiza, is something I will carry with me forever. 🌊🌑☀️
A once-in-a-lifetime reminder to honor the cycles, embrace the pause, and always look for the return of the light.

Everyone having a fun summer? Feels crazy huh!? Well that because it is and it should be- Late nights. Weekend trips. Ice cream runs. BBQs. More cocktails. Less sleep. Kids everywhere. Plans changing by the hour.
☯️
Honestly… guess that’s kind of the point.
☯️
Summer isn’t meant to be perfectly scheduled- it’s meant to be lived.
☯️
From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, summer is the season of the Heart and joy. It’s a time to connect, laugh, explore, and make memories. The goal isn’t perfection-it’s balance, always was always will be!

Ever leave acupuncture feeling a little… drunk?

Nope, you didn’t imagine it!

Some people feel: Floaty, Deeply relaxed, Calm and peaceful, and maybe even a little wobbly (the front desk loves to see this;)

Why?

Your nervous system shifts from fight-or-flight into rest-and-heal.
Your body releases feel-good chemicals like endorphins and serotonin.
Blood flow and Qi begin moving more freely.

This “acu-drunk” feeling is very temporary and often a sign your body is finally relaxing!

Drink water, eat a nourishing meal, and enjoyyyy the reset!

Did you know your body has a “clock” that Traditional Chinese Medicine has been following for thousands of years?

Between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, the Heart meridian is at its energetic peak.

This is why, in Chinese Medicine, we encourage you to:

Eat your largest meal earlier in the day instead of late at night.
Take a few deep breaths before eating to calm your nervous system.
Step outside into natural sunlight, even just 5–10 minutes.
Laugh, connect with someone you love, or do something that genuinely brings you joy.

The Heart in TCM isn’t just a pump.
It houses the Shen (your spirit), clarity, emotional balance, and presence.

How you spend these two hours can influence the rest of your day more than most people realize.

Sometimes the best medicine isn’t adding another supplement…
It’s honoring your body’s natural rhythm.

Save this post and try building a midday ritual this week.
