Juneteenth, celebrated each year on June 19th, commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned they were free more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is more than a day of remembrance. It is a time to honor the resilience, strength, and achievements of African Americans while reflecting on our nation’s history and the ongoing pursuit of equality, justice, and opportunity for all.

This morning was a wonderful time celebrating our incredible CNAs with a special visit from The Coffee Can☕💙

Our CNAs enjoyed delicious coffee and fresh pastries as a small token of appreciation for the compassionate care and dedication they show our residents every single day. It was also great to see so many other staff members join in and enjoy the treats together.

Tomorrow, The Coffee Can will be set up in the Monterey Care Center parking lot from 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM as part of our CNA Week celebration!

While this event is in honor of our amazing CNAs, everyone is welcome to stop by and purchase coffee, breakfast items, or other treats if they choose. We encourage our staff, families, and community members to come out and support this wonderful small business.
