As a nutritionist I have to wonder how much societal pressure for girls to look a certain way reduces self confidence. I see so many women whose first diet was when they were between the ages of 4 and 8! 🥲. These are heartbreaking stories about how that one act still impacts them today.
Please do not teach your children that dieting is normal! Dieting damages our self esteem, our autonomy, and decreases our ability to know when we are hungry or full. Developing a healthy relationship with food as a way to fuel our bodies rather than a way to change how we look is essential for both mental and physical health.

Just a reminder that our immune system depends on the foods we eat to function optimally. Image below is from peer-reviewed research article linked in the comments. To be clear: I am not advocating that we don’t seek and follow medical advice, just that we are also mindful that our body is fueled by the foods we eat! Eat the rainbow 🌈 (not skittles 😉) to help increase the diversity of nutrients you consume. Take a look at your diet to make sure you include these powerful micronutrients every day!
