Last Day of 1st Grade🙌🏻 This has been the most wild school year but we are so thankful for the amazing staff and students who have supported us throughout this journey! Amelia has been so strong, brave and determined to finish this school year! We are so proud of her🩷 Amelia has her MRI of brain and spine on July 6, Final Post Op appointment with Neurosurgery July 10 and then July 14 she will see Oncology to review her MRI results. Until then you can find us at the baseball fields cheering on Teddy, at the pool with friends or around a campfire eating a s’more! Cheers to summertime☀️

It’s been a bit quiet on this page but we’ve been busy with appointments and healing! Amelia has been crushing speech therapy and has also started therapy for her anxiety too. She decided to trial a full day back at school today and had the best day ever! We are so thankful for the accommodations the school has provided and our creative gal is enjoying the extra time in the art room since she can’t participate in gym or recess yet. We are so proud of our girl and can’t believe how awesome she is doing just 5 weeks post surgery🩷

We saw Dr. Arthur today and he gave Amelia the all clear to slowly go back to school a couple hours a day! We haven’t seen him since her initial visit and it was nice to thank him in person for taking my concerns seriously. The night of her MRI he called me from home to let me know they had found something so I didn’t find out on MyChart. He advocated so hard for us and I truly can’t thank him enough! Also, big thanks to Christine for giving Amelia some extra confidence and sass as she heads back to school🩷

Yesterday we saw the oncologist and got Amelia’s pathology results. The official tumor diagnosis is a PXA with a BRAF mutation. It is grade 2 but still considered low grade. Amelia is such a special girl that even her tumor had to be extra special! Since her tumor was atypical they sent it off for more testing which we will get in two weeks. Her case has been discussed at length this week during tumor board with the most brilliant oncologists, neurosurgeons and pathologists. The plan is still no chemo or radiation 🙌🏻 She will have a repeat brain MRI along with a spine MRI in 3 months. Eventually scans will space out to every 6 months.

We have been a little M.I.A since being home because we thought we could use some extra excitement with a stomach bug😅 We are slowly recovering from that and praying for some uneventful days in our future! Next week we have three appointments. Tuesday, we see Oncology where we will get her pathology results and go over next steps and treatment plan. Thursday, Amelia has a speech evaluation and Friday we have our first post op appointment! Thank you so much to everyone for all the love shown to our entire family this week🩷

Amelia has had a very emotional day. This morning they took her bandages off and she got to see her incision and hair. It was a very big shock to her and she is really struggling. Keep her sweet little heart in your prayers🩷 Good news is she is still being a rockstar and may get to go home tomorrow just in time to watch Reds Opening Day⚾️ Daddy said he would even make her favorite pork chops and baked beans!
