In counseling, I share this concept with kids of all ages, and it’s true for adults too. When someone is unkind, excludes you, or acts mean to feel more powerful, it says far more about their insecurities and need for social approval than it does about you.

Understanding this helps kids become more aware, confident, and even compassionate, they can feel empathy for the other person instead of letting it shake their self-worth.

I wanted to share this great resource. I’ve recently gotten questions about heavy periods. I live with PCOS and recently almost ended in the emergency room due to severe heavy menstrual bleeding. Heavy menstrual bleeding can happen even if you don’t have conditions like PCOS or Endometriosis. Folks, you know your body and what’s usual for your menstrual cycle. When doubt, always get checked out. Please know there is a difference between having a heavy flow day and heavy menstrual bleeding. Give this article a read from Cleveland Clinic.

Heavy menstrual bleeding is when you bleed so much during your period that you’re changing pads or tampons every hour for several hours. Learn more about it.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will be impacted by domestic violence. Domestic violence is not just physical harm, but it can include stalking, emotional abuse, psychological abuse, spiritual abuse, financial abuse and post separation abuse. If you or someone you know needs help, reach out to your local DV agency or contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

I’m the owner and Sexuality Educator for LRC Sexuality Education, LLC. This past year has been a personal journey of improving my health and sharing parts of my story. Im a mom, wife, healthcare worker, neurodivergent, and live with different health conditions. I’m here to educate others on the importance of sexual health and wellbeing, while being real about life and my own struggles I’m here to spread positivity and encourage others to live well and love yourself.
