Most of the exhaustion people carry comes from working hard on things that were never theirs to manage.

Draw a circle. Inside it goes everything that actually answers to you. Outside it goes everything that does not. It sounds almost too simple to matter, and then you try it and realize how much of your energy has been living on the wrong side of that line.

Inside the circle: your boundaries. What you will accept and what you will not. That is yours, and nobody can set it for you.

The way you speak. Your tone, your timing, whether you say the thing kindly or say it to win.

Your energy. Where it goes, who gets it, what you protect it from.

Your attitude. Not forced positivity. Just the posture you choose to meet the day with.

The way you treat others. Especially the people who are difficult. Especially when you are tired.

Your self talk. The running commentary nobody else hears, which is somehow the one that shapes you most.

Outside the circle: other people's opinions of you. You cannot manage what someone has decided about you, and trying is a full time job with no pay.

The future. You can prepare. You cannot control.

Outcomes. You do the work. The result has its own weather.

External events. The traffic, the diagnosis, the phone call you did not expect.

How people treat you. You influence it. You do not decide it.

The list outside the circle is longer. It always is. That is not the discouraging part, it is the freeing part, because none of it was ever your assignment.

The next time you feel that particular kind of tired, ask one question. Is this mine.

If the answer is no, you are allowed to set it down.

BRAIN PROTECTION: Women who start hormone replacement therapy between ages 46 and 56 may slash their dementia risk by up to 23%.

The UK Biobank analysis of more than 183,000 postmenopausal women found HRT was linked to a 10% lower risk of all-cause dementia and a 16% lower risk of Alzheimer's disease over 13 years.

Starting HRT after age 56 showed no reduced risk — and doctors caution the observational study can't prove cause and effect, meaning the findings alone don't warrant seeking out hormone therapy purely for dementia prevention.

STRONGER DEFENSE: An experimental pancreatic cancer vaccine triggers immune response in 90% of high-risk patients in Johns Hopkins trial.

The vaccine, called mKRAS-VAX, targets the gene mutation that drives more than 90% of the deadliest form of pancreatic cancer — and after 16.5 months of follow-up, no participant developed the disease.

Some pancreatic cysts shrank or disappeared in over a third of vaccinated individuals, though researchers say larger studies are needed to confirm the vaccine caused the effect.
