If you’re getting electrolysis for permanent hair removal, don’t only pay attention to the results — pay attention to sterility and safety.

🧤 The sterile instrument pouch should be opened in front of you, immediately before your treatment.

⚡️ Your electrolysis probe should be new, sterile, single-use, and opened from its individual package in front of you.

During treatment, your electrologist should avoid touching phones, door handles, hair, or other potentially contaminated surfaces while wearing treatment gloves. If contamination occurs, gloves should be changed when appropriate.

🚨 ELECTROLYSIS AFTERCARE: DON’T MAKE THESE MISTAKES!

What you do AFTER your electrolysis treatment matters.

Redness, mild swelling around the follicles, warmth and temporary sensitivity can be normal after electrolysis.

But your skin needs time to recover — especially after facial electrolysis on the upper lip, chin or jawline.

❌ Don’t pick, scratch or remove healing micro-scabs.
❌ Don’t apply random antibiotic ointments “just in case.”
❌ Don’t start taking antibiotics on your own because of a normal post-treatment reaction.
❌ Avoid irritating skincare products on freshly treated skin.
❌ Don’t ignore worsening pain, spreading redness, pus, significant burns or wounds that aren’t healing properly.

Your electrologist should explain what to expect after electrolysis, how to care for the treated area and when you should contact them.

And remember:

⚡️ The worse your skin looks afterward does NOT mean the treatment worked better.

When it comes to electrolysis for permanent hair removal, the goal is NOT to use as much energy as possible.

The goal is PRECISION.

Professional electrolysis requires:

✔️ Appropriate energy settings
✔️ Effective treatment of the hair follicle
✔️ Minimal unnecessary trauma to the surrounding skin

This is especially important when treating delicate areas like the upper lip, chin, jawline and face.

In my practice, I often use insulated electrolysis probes. Most of the probe is insulated while the treatment portion is exposed, helping concentrate energy where it is needed while reducing unnecessary heating closer to the skin’s surface.

🔥 More aggressive does NOT automatically mean more effective.

Your face is not the place to chase maximum settings.
