🎉 Today, we’re celebrating something very special - Ms. Fannie’s 102nd birthday!

For decades, Fannie has lived in the home where she built a life, raised a family and even operated her own beauty shop. That home holds a lifetime of memories and represents the independence she continues to cherish.

Fannie is the proud mother of 2 children, grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 4. We are also honored to know her as a Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County client.

So what is her secret to 102 years?

“Work hard.”

This morning we had the pleasure of wishing Meals On Wheels client Ms. Helen a happy 101st birthday. She was surprised and very happy to receive her cake and was excited to open the gift that was provided to her by our Client Services department. A special thank you to her volunteer Ron for also stopping by and singing her "Happy Birthday".

Katy and James have lived in their home for decades. James is a disabled veteran, and over time, the physical demands of maintaining their yard became more than he could manage. The property eventually became severely overgrown, creating health and safety concerns around the home.

Through the on Wheels America Helping Homebound Heroes grant - funded by - Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County was able to step in.

Working with a professional lawn care company, the overgrowth was cleared and the property was transformed. The before-and-after photos tell the story: what had become difficult and unsafe is now clean, manageable, and something Katy and James can once again feel proud of.

Helping veterans and their spouses remain safe and independent at home is at the heart of this program. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve those who served -and thankful to The Home Depot Foundation for making projects like this possible.
