😴 Sleep Hygiene Tips: Rest Better, Stay Healthier This Season 🌙

Shorter days and longer nights can throw off our sleep schedules—but quality rest is one of the best ways to support your immune system and overall health.

Try these sleep hygiene tips for better rest and fewer illnesses:
• Stick to a consistent bedtime and wake-up time, even on weekends
• Get natural light exposure during the day to help regulate your body clock
• Power down screens at least 30–60 minutes before bed
• Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet
• Avoid caffeine late in the day and heavy meals before bedtime
• Create a calming bedtime routine like reading or gentle stretching

Good sleep helps reduce stress, improve focus, and strengthen your body’s defenses against seasonal illnesses.

💙 If trouble sleeping is affecting your health, we’re here to help. Contact Summit Health to talk with our medical team about sleep concerns and overall wellness.

❄️ Winter Skin Care Tips ❄️
Cold air outside and dry heat indoors can take a toll on your skin—leading to dryness, itching, and painful cracks. Keep your skin healthy all winter with these simple tips:

🧴 Moisturize often
Apply a thick, fragrance-free moisturizer right after bathing while skin is still damp. Creams and ointments work better than lotions in winter.

🚿 Take shorter, lukewarm showers
Hot water can strip your skin of natural oils. Keep showers short and warm instead of hot.

💧 Use a humidifier
Adding moisture to indoor air helps prevent skin from drying out.

🧼 Choose gentle products
Use mild, fragrance-free cleansers and avoid harsh soaps that can irritate sensitive winter skin.

🧤 Protect exposed skin
Wear gloves, scarves, and hats to shield skin from cold wind and harsh temperatures.

If you’re dealing with persistent dryness, rashes, eczema flare-ups, or other skin concerns, we’re here to help. Our team at Summit Health can evaluate your skin and recommend the right treatment plan for you.

🎄 Holiday Stress? Try This 1-Minute Stress Buster 🎄

The holidays can be joyful, but they can also be overwhelming. When stress starts to rise, take 60 seconds to reset your nervous system with this simple breathwork exercise:

🫁 1-Minute Calm Breathing
• Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds
• Hold for 4 seconds
• Exhale slowly through your mouth for 6 seconds
• Repeat for one minute

This quick practice helps lower stress hormones, slow your heart rate, and bring your body back into balance. Perfect for busy holiday moments.

✨ Boost Your Stress Resilience Daily
• 🚶‍♀️ Aim for 15–30 minutes of daily movement, like a brisk winter walk. Physical activity strengthens immune defenses and helps manage stress.
• 😴 Prioritize 7–9 hours of sleep each night with consistent bed and wake times. Quality sleep supports recovery, mental clarity, and illness resistance.

💙 We’re Here to Help
If holiday stress, anxiety, or mood changes begin to interfere with daily life, we are here to help. Give us a call at 📞 817-420-6009 to discuss support options and next steps.

💧 Hydration Hacks: Stay Healthy This Winter ❄️

Dry winter air can quietly dehydrate your body—weakening your immune system and making you more susceptible to colds. Staying properly hydrated is one of the simplest ways to support your health all season long.

👉 Daily hydration goal: Aim to drink two-thirds of your body weight in ounces of water each day. Consistent hydration helps keep mucous membranes moist, supporting your body’s natural defense against illness.

🥗 Boost immunity with nutrition:
• Vitamin C–rich foods like citrus fruits, berries, peppers, and leafy greens
• A variety of colorful fruits and vegetables for overall immune support
• Vitamin D sources such as salmon, eggs, and fortified foods to help strengthen immune response

Small daily habits can make a big difference. Drink up, nourish your body, and stay well this winter! 💙
