Sending a huge thank you to the Sydorko clan for allowing us to spend a couple days at their beach house to allow Kayden his first time at the ocean, experience the fun of arcade games and going on rides! Although we were not a huge fan of the sand, he thoroughly enjoyed himself doing everything else there is to do on a mini beach vacation! Cannot wait to do it again next year! 🌊🏖🫶🏽

We always hope for a score of approx. 0.2%
This sweet boy and his heart got a score of 0.08%! Even lower than his last test a few months ago! No cath or biopsy in the books for us yet!!

How has it been a year?

A year since we got "the call" after a year and a half of waiting. A year since we took that 7pm walk down the hallway to kiss you and your heart that mommy created 'goodbye' on your way to the OR. A year since I sat on 2B with Stuffy, bringing her everywhere with me waiting for the periodic updates, each one better then the last. A year since I got to see you with a healthy heart rhythm for the first time ever on your monitor. You were so pink! Your body finally had a healthy beating heart and it showed!

How did a year and a half of waiting feel like 5 years, yet the last year we spent with you out of the hospital flew by? Almost like it was just yesterday.

Today, you had your one year check up since transplant! Your doctor was very happy. That heart is beating away in there healthy as ever. He told us we get to move from monthly visits to once every 3 months! A year ago I was kissing you goodbye.. tonight, I'm kissing you good night after a year of adventures, and wonderful memories. My own personal Superman. You are absolutely Unstoppable Kayden. Words will never be enough to explain to you how proud I am of you and the little boy you are becoming.

🤗 Kayden Video Update 📽

I try not to highlight much the struggles Kayden still has since his stroke. He can't walk unassisted yet, his left arm paralysis is still a daily hindrance and his words have been slow to return.

But . . . with each challenge, comes HUGE wins in therapy. Over the last month, he has started to stand unsupported for extended periods of time!! Also, for the first time since his stroke, he lifted his left arm ON HIS OWN to pop a bubble!! This was a HUGE deal, as it means that his intention to pop the bubble sent the signal to his brain that made it to his arm to lift it!! This kid is unstoppable! Watch out world, Kayden's brain is catching up and he's going to be a force to be reckoned with one day!!

Videos: I included videos from Physical & Occupational Therapy and then some of Kayden being Kayden during his sessions!! He truly is just the happiest boy ❤

To all of the nurses Kayden has had throughout his tiny lifetime, how do we ever properly thank you? How do you thank someone for leaving their family to come take care of yours? Spending 12 hours bedside making sure your baby is as well taken care of as you would do yourself. The nurses at Nemours not only took care of Kayden during his admission - they took care of me. They looked after me, they became my friends. They became Kayden's family.

To each and every one of you, from the bottom of my heart and both of Kayden's hearts - THANK YOU for getting my boy from point A to point B safely. ❤ I watched so many of you help me advocate for my son, fight certain decisions on my behalf in my absence, celebrate the wins with me and comfort me during the lows. You guys learned the schedule I set up and the routine we had good enough to perform it on your own on days I couldn't. I hope each of you know how big of a difference you made in my stay navigating heart failure and being on the waitlist for 1 and 1/2 years. This week we celebrate each and every single one of you! Happy Nurses Week from the happiest little boy who will go the rest of his life knowing how big of the part you each played in his story!
