If you can’t get up from the floor… don’t ignore it.
This usually means it’s time to strengthen your legs & core.
Getting off the floor is linked to better health & independence as we age. 🙌🏽

Here are 3 beginner-friendly exercises to help build strength & stability:
✅ Seated squats — 10 reps × 2–3 sets
✅ Lunges — 8 reps/side × 2 sets
✅ Bird dogs — 8 reps/side × 2 sets

Start where you are. Then progress. 🔥

Even as a physician, I struggled with my own health too.

Lifestyle Medicine helped me treat my conditions differently.

It wasn’t overnight, but I added habits that would have a significant impact:
More strength.
More movement.
More whole plant foods.
More sleep.
More intention.

And over time, these small daily choices changed my health, my energy, and my life.

I’ve heard it’s impossible to tone your legs in your 50s…

Let’s see about that. 💪🏽🔥

I carry weight in my thighs, glutes, and around my knees. And instead of hiding them this summer, I’m committing to change.

Here’s what I’m focusing on:
✅ Strength training & conditioning 5–6x/week
✅ Walking 5K most days
✅ Plant-forward meals that support my goals
✅ Aiming for 100 oz of water a day

Nothing extreme.
Just habits that can be repeated consistently.

If you want to follow along with me:
Measure the widest part of your hips/glutes and the fullest part of each thigh. Same spot every time. Same posture. Same measuring tape.

On this Mother’s Day, I want to remind moms that we deserve strength, energy, confidence, and health too.

People thought I was okay… but I wasn’t.
I remember how I felt.
Low energy.
Painful joints and muscles.
Emotionally drained.
Not fully myself.

So I made a decision.
To change to age well. 🙌🏽

My son was the last athlete to go. He needed a 12.15 on parallel bars to tie for 1st place in all-around. He scored 12.20.

Eastern National Level 9 Senior B All-Around Champion. 🏆🔥

No matter the result, I’m so proud of his dedication and work. 🫶🏽
