You want to shrink your waist. Then let’s talk about calorie density.
🩺 Calorie density is the number of calories in a given amount of food. Examples based on plant foods:
🥬 Lower: leafy greens, other veggies, fresh fruit, & veggie broth-based soups
🫘 Middle: beans, lentils, potatoes, sweet potatoes, & intact whole grains
🥜 Higher: nuts, seeds, nut butters, avocado, dried fruit, oils, & many ultra-processed foods
🩺 Many whole plant foods are rich in fiber and water, giving you more food volume for fewer calories while supporting overall health.
🩺 For a slimmer waist, choosing more lower-calorie-dense plant foods can help reduce overall calorie intake and support fat loss. As excess body fat decreases, abdominal fat and waist circumference can decrease too.
🩺 However, you don’t need to avoid higher-calorie-dense plant foods altogether. Look at the whole package: fiber, nutrients, protein, saturated fat, and how the food affects overall health. Be mindful of your food choices.
💚 Save this and look at what’s taking up space on your plate.
