A hand to hold. A quiet presence. A reminder that someone is there.🤍

We’re honored to introduce No One Dies Alone (NODA), a new volunteer initiative rooted in one simple but powerful belief: no one should have to face the end of life alone.

Through this program, trained volunteers offer a comforting presence to patients nearing the end of life who may not have family or friends at their bedside. Whether it’s holding a hand, reading a favorite book, playing gentle music, or offering prayer when welcomed, these volunteers provide something deeply meaningful: the reassurance that someone is there.

Because sometimes, the greatest gift we can give is simply showing up.

Interested in becoming a NODA volunteer? Join us for orientation on Thursday, October 29, and learn how you can make a difference when it matters most.

Behind every great EMS provider is hours of training, hands-on learning and preparation for the moments that matter most. ❤️

Thanks to the support of the Blessing Foundation, our EMS students now have access to new training tools designed to bring real-life scenarios into the classroom and better prepare them for the realities of caring for our community.

From practicing accurate blood pressure readings and recognizing different levels of patient acuity to learning specialized skills like starting IVs in an infant’s foot, these tools help students build the knowledge, confidence and hands-on experience they’ll carry into the field.

The equipment was purchased in response to a request from our EMS education team, who recognized an opportunity to expand training and better prepare students for the challenges they may encounter on an emergency call. Their impact will go far beyond the classroom.

Because when seconds matter, preparation matters. And every opportunity to learn today helps prepare the next generation of healthcare heroes to care for our community tomorrow.

Thank you to the Foundation for investing in education, empowering future providers and helping strengthen the future of emergency medical care.

Sometimes, exceptional nursing looks like clinical expertise. Other times, it looks like chocolate milk, a little creativity, and staying by a scared mother’s side. 💙

When a two-year-old arrived in the Emergency Department after a possible medication ingestion, Lauren Van Tress, RN, became more than a nurse to his family. She became a source of calm in one of the most frightening moments of their lives.

She reassured his mom. She made a nervous toddler smile. She found a way to help him take the medication he needed. And through it all, she never left their side.

It’s that kind of care - the kind patients and families remember long after they leave - that earned Lauren the DAISY Award for exceptional patient and family care.

Read Lauren’s story https://bit.ly/476e6bg and see why the smallest moments of kindness can make such a lasting impact. 💙

There's a whole lot of JOY woven into this story...

For 20 years, Joy Berhorst has been at the heart of the Pink. Pass It On 5K, bringing our community together to support breast cancer patients, celebrate survivors and remember those we’ve lost.

What started as a desire to give back became a 20-year legacy, raising more than $136,000 to help local breast cancer patients with the expenses that insurance doesn’t always cover.

Now, Joy is passing the pink torch forward.

But the heart of the Pink. Pass It On 5K mission will continue; the people, the purpose and the promise that no one has to walk this journey alone.

There’s so much more to Joy’s story, and we think it’s one worth reading. 💗

Great nurses never stop learning, and Rachel Pettitt, BSN, RN, PCCN, is the perfect example of that.

As a Nurse Educator with Blessing Health System’s Nursing Professional Development team, Rachel spends her days helping other nurses grow in their knowledge and skills. Now, she’s adding another accomplishment to her own nursing journey: earning her Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) certification.

The PCCN certification recognizes nurses with specialized knowledge and experience caring for acutely ill adult patients; something Rachel has developed throughout her career at Blessing, from starting as a nurse intern in Women’s and Children’s Services to working in the Cardiovascular ICU and ICU.

Today, she gets to use that firsthand experience to educate and support nurses across our health system, helping strengthen the people who care for our patients every day.

We’re proud to celebrate Rachel and this well-deserved accomplishment! 💙
