Do you have a friend that is due soon? Or is your spouse due soon? Here are 3 ways that you can show support to an expecting mother approaching her due date.

1. Don't ask her if she is in labor yet, instead offer words of encouragement through the last few weeks of pregnancy. Often times an expecting mother can feel frustrated as her due date approaches and there are no signs of baby coming soon. Frequent texts and calls during this time can cause her to stress, which in turn can inhibit labor.

2. Wash her dishes or fold her laundry. Let her take these last few days to rest before the restless nights of motherhood begin. If she is stressed about all of the chores that need to be done before the baby arrives, it can also inhibit labor. Let her take as many naps as she can during this time.

3. Remind her that she is going to rock this birth! Help her make birth affirmation cards to display in her birthing space, or gather a list of songs to listen to while she is in labor.

“The fiscal 2021 National Defense Authorization bill includes a five-year pilot program to cover the services of a professional trained to provide physical and emotional support for female troops and military family members during childbirth.”

The legislation is awaiting President Trump's signature, though he has threatened to veto it.
