Two weeks ago, I set a goal to run a 5k under 30 minutes and I did it in 28 minutes. Last week, I had a goal of finishing my first Dri Tri. Mentally, I had a goal of finishing in under an hour but mostly because I didn’t want to suffer for more than an hour. 😂

I’ve never considered myself competitive but maybe that’s because I’ve never felt like an athlete. I’ve been doing Orange Theory for 1.5 years and I feel like an athlete! I don’t feel like I’m working out…I feel like I’m training. Training my body to feel good and to feel strong for the rest of my life.

Did I cry a little when I saw that I was in the top 3 of female Dri Tri participants at my studio? Yes. 💪🏼

For awhile, I was making these homemade bars often and then I got lazy. They’re great for breakfast, snack or an after dinner treat. Here’s the five minute recipe, no bake recipe:

• Oats
• Dates (pitted and chopped)
• Peanut butter
• Honey
• Cinnamon
• Peanut butter
• Walnuts (because we happened to have some)
• Chocolate chips (I’ve been using Enjoy Life)

Throw everything in the food processor and mix until the texture will allow molding into a ball, muffin tins or a dish. Freeze for min of 1 hour before eating. I keep mine in the freezer until they’re gone. If they’re not packed well/tight enough in the shape you desire, they’ll get crumbly quickly.

I don’t measure anything. 😅

Happy Monday! Eat more plants.

Snacks for the family are ready for a couple of days! It feels good to spend the 10 minutes it takes to do this - this way I have fruit to add to breakfast, veggies to throw in lunches and both for the after school “I’m STARVING!” 😂♥️

Oof. This week. This world.

Sickness hit our home this week and it has allowed for a lot of rest, tears, moving from bed to bath to couch to deck in an as needed cycle.

The entire world feels the weight, the anger, the hopelessness and the devastation from yesterday.

I do not know how to go about normal day-to-day tasks at times like these, but I do. We all do. It feels like a luxury, like a selfish act, like some completely f*ucked up privilege that I do not deserve, to “take care of myself.” And yet, that’s what I and many of us do.

In order to continue existing with some small amount of normalcy, sanity and peace, we must take care and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Find an action to take, a stranger to love on, a place to give what you can. If we all cultivate peace jn ourselves, we can share it with others.

How you store your food matters.

Two things I always do:
1. Put asparagus in water.
2. Leave tomatoes out on the counter - not in the refrigerator.

Storing food properly reduces food waste. 👍🏼

This is a standard breakfast for me but it’s a great option even if you’re not doing Whole30.

•1 breakfast sausage
•1 avocado
•1 sweet potato
•2 tablespoons sauerkraut
•1 glass of water with apple cider vinegar

When I eat large meals throughout the day, I’m less likely to experience blood sugar imbalance, jitters and hangry moodiness. 🤪

I keep my meals simple and I make sure my refrigerator and pantry has what I need.

Making healthy meals and transforming your typical day-to-day eating routine can be extremely overwhelming. It seems expensive and time consuming.

The good news is, the internet is full of lies! Eating healthy can be simple and low budget.

If you want help overhauling your diet, making grocery lists, guides for go-to breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, I’d love to help you.

Beginning in June, I’m looking for three women who want to work with me for three to six months to make a major life transformation to improve overall mental and physical health.

Let me know if you want to talk more. ♥️

Day 10 of

Usually this is the point when I start shoveling handfuls of chocolate chips into my mouth. 😆

This time I feel committed! I feel good!

• I’ve been eating more protein than usual by adding in eggs and high quality meat or seafood.
• I’ve been eating a sweet potato most days.
• My go-to snack is apples with almond butter.
• Black coffee is still the thing I look forward to most.
• My toughest moment was not eating tortilla chips at a Mexican restaurant on Mother’s Day. 🙃
• My second toughest moment was not eating cupcakes last night for my stepdaughter’s birthday. (I had a mango instead.)

I don’t find any restrictive diet (unless it’s due to an allergy or sensitivity) to be sustainable for the long-term. I’ve always enjoyed partaking in Whole30 once a year or so. It’s fun to observe how my body reacts to whole foods rather than processes carbs, dairy and sugar.

It feels good to feel good.

I look forward to incorporating real food while enjoying the occasional cookie, muffin, bagel, pizza, cake, chips, ya know, a few things. 😉

Rainy Saturday morning made better with warm broth. This flavor is 🙌🏻.

My mom is the first person who recommended bone broth to me. It’s incredibly soothing and a great source of protein and collagen.

💪🏼
