This past weekend I had the opportunity to take part in another Animal Communication course with at , a beautiful sanctuary sanctuary for horses, mules, and donkeys with special needs or who are elderly. The sanctuary focuses on rehabilitation, rehoming, and creating healing spaces for both animals and humans. I’ve been feeling called back to this space of Animal Communication again, and everything aligned that it worked out to take part in the course.

I am so thankful for this time at this beautiful sanctuary among these amazing animals and a lovely group of people who were open and willing.

This is Katy, one of the friendly donkeys we were able to interact with.

It is truly special to connect heart-to-heart, soul-to-soul with animals. They can teach us so much. Just truly so thankful.

I see myself as a wayfinder of sorts, a guide, a support to help you see, connect, and discover the “anchors” and “sails” that help sustain and buoy you through all phases of this precious life. 🛟⛵️

We work to build a foundation, to tend and nourish the roots. We find ways of deeper awareness, connection, and meaning. ✨

What a crew we’ve had for Candlelight Yin & Restore recently! Thanks for obliging to my excited ask for a class selfie. 😆 Love to see these faces, new and returning, stepping on the mat to slow down, to listen, meeting themselves with curiosity and care. Building self awareness through movement and stillness and breath. It’s a beautiful thing! And it’s a little joy I keep close to my heart every single day: the gift it is to get to be a space holder and guiding people toward the teacher within. 💗🙏☺️

Several years ago, while traveling in India and on one of our final mornings at an Ayurvedic health center, I woke just before sunrise and made my way to the beach for a chance to watch the local fishermen bring in their nets from the night before. As the sun began to rise, the steady bobbing glow of the lights from their boats started to fade and gave way to the hazy horizon cast in pastel pinks and purples and blues. The little skiffs started to make their way to shore. Crows gathered around, cawing their orders, anticipating a scavenge. Villagers merged along the lapping waters, preparing to pull in the massive nets. Off of one skiff, a fisherman threw rope ashore as others waded in calf-deep water to grab the rope. One-by-one, they lined up in position to take hold of the rope and begin the effort of pulling the fish-heavy net to shore –like a game of tug between man and the sea. With an orchestration that appeared so natural and known, the men began the coordinated pull of the rope…with a heave forward and pull back, leaning their bodies back and pulling in sync. The net was successfully pulled onto the sand, fish flopping about with the transition from sea to land. Villagers gathered around, crouching down to start pulling apart the netting, large colorful plastic baskets in tow, assessing their bounty, picking through and separating out the fish –the catch that would feed this village. A small group of men started to reorganize the ropes while others worked together to drag the boat back to its resting spot on the beach.

When I think of community, this memory often comes to mind: this natural coming together, a ritual of connection and rhythmic collective effort –each person with a role, all an important part of nourishing and sustaining their families, their community as a whole.

In our modern world, I sometimes feel we can be far removed from the sort of connection and community we as humans so innately need. We often hear the saying, “it takes a village.” But what does that village look like now? What does it mean? And how can we find our way back to that collective care as if it’s as natural as breathing air?

NEW ON THE BLOG! While ‘tis the season when things tend to feel a bit more hustle and bustle, it’s actually the time of year when we naturally crave (and need!) hibernation and rest. Ayurveda teaches us to live in harmony with the seasons. As they say, it’s the most wonderful time of year…made even more wonderful when we make space for nourishment and rest. This isn’t about adding more to your “to do” list but rather about encouraging time for just being. Check out the blog (link in bio) for some simple suggestions to wiggle into your day.

Proudly and gratefully sporting NICU Doula Academy swag today! Last month I completed the beta cohort training with . I cannot say enough about how amazing this training is! It was not only a healing experience for me as I continue to process our NICU experience, but also further ignited the desire in me to be the change and a bridge for NICU families. My “why” is these two miracle girls in my arms who are the greatest teachers in my life. If you or someone you know could use support in navigating an anticipated NICU stay and time in NICU and the transition home, please reach out. I’m currently taking on clients both in-person and virtually and will be seeing a limited number of clients pro-bono as I work toward completing certification requirements.
