What are exosomes?

Exosomes are extremely small extracellular vesicles released by cells. Think of them as microscopic “communication packets.” They can contain proteins, lipids, growth-related signaling molecules, and RNA that influence how nearby cells behave.

In skin research, exosome-based products are being studied for effects on inflammation, fibroblast activity, extracellular-matrix remodeling, collagen/elastin production, pigmentation, and wound healing.

Why combine them with microneedling?

Microneedling creates thousands of controlled microchannels in the epidermis/dermis and initiates a wound-healing response. Applying an exosome-containing preparation after treatment is intended to take advantage of the temporarily disrupted barrier while providing regenerative signaling during the healing process.

The combination is being studied for:
