Thank you for being there when it matters. 💙 On Emergency Nurses Day, we recognize the nurses who bring skill, compassion, and calm to difficult situations. Emergency care can also be a starting point for conversations about a patient’s wishes and ongoing support needs. For someone living with a terminal illness, asking about hospice may help the family understand options for comfort care. We appreciate emergency nurses for listening, educating, and helping families navigate their next steps.

Steve Garcia, Account Executive, has been busy out and about in our community! At Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Harlingen, Steve connected with Nora and helped brighten the staff’s day with snacks and highlighters while keeping hospice education and resources within reach.
Steve also visited Sunshine Haven, Inc., where he connected with Dulce and made a donation to support their work providing a clean, comfortable home and compassionate care for people in their final chapter.

Different stops, same purpose: building relationships, sharing resources, and supporting those who care for our community.

Knowing what to do starts with being prepared. Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month is a reminder to learn CPR and how to use an AED. You can learn CPR and how to use an AED through certification programs provided by the American Red Cross CPR Training or the American Heart Association

For families receiving hospice care, preparation also means discussing wishes about resuscitation, understanding any DNR orders, and knowing whom to call. Ask your hospice team to review the emergency plan before a crisis happens. Clear conversations help families understand and honor their loved one’s wishes.

Team Macias is bringing the pink to Brownsville!
Elizabeth Macias, Community Liaison, and Eric Macias, Clinical Account Executive, joined seniors at the WellMed Charitable Foundation Senior Center in Brownsville for a breast cancer awareness rock painting activity. Along with the creativity, they shared hospice education, including when to start asking questions and what support may be available for patients and families.
