This is a way to give back – a small thank you – in return for the immense sacrifice and patriotism that has allowed us as Americans our freedom. We offer help with barrier-free services, for example: wheelchair ramps, widening doorways for wheelchair access, kitchen adaptations including roll-under sinks and lowering countertops, bathroom adaptations including wheelchair accessible showers. We tr

y to do anything that will make our veteran heroes free from injuring themselves when they return home from their service and make them more independent and comfortable in their own homes.

🇺🇸 Another great Veteran Appreciation Day at the Borden Avenue Shelter, which is the only veterans-only homeless shelter in New York City

🤝 We were proud to partner with Adrienne and the Wounded Warrior Project to provide special care packages for our veterans.

🥪 Homes for Veterans donated lunch, including sandwiches, salad, pasta, cookies, and more.

❤️ These special days would not be possible without your support. Every donation helps us continue serving veterans and reminding them that they are not forgotten.

🙌 Thank you to Calvin, Sean and the ICL Avenue staff for hosting us and making this day possible.

On this upcoming Giving Tuesday, we celebrate not only the spirit of generosity but also the profound transformation in the lives of Sergeant Charles Linwood and his wife, Sarah.

Thanks to our support and the heartfelt generosity of a remarkable donor, Lorraine DiPaolo, the Linwoods now experience something many of us take for granted: safety, dignity, and independence in their own home.

Charles, a proud U.S. Army veteran, was tragically injured during his service. His injuries left him wheelchair-bound, enduring constant leg pain and neuropathy, and struggling with the basic task of bathing due to an inaccessible bathroom. But today, the Linwoods have a fully remodeled, accessible bathroom—a sanctuary that has restored Charles’s independence and a sense of normalcy.

Lorraine’s impact goes far beyond financial support. She has offered guidance, emotional encouragement, and compassion that only someone who truly understands these struggles can provide. In honoring the memory of her late husband, Gordon, Lorraine has become a close friend and companion to the Linwoods, showing what love and generosity in action can achieve.

Thank you, Lorraine, for your incredible contribution to the Linwood project and for the difference you continue to make in the lives of veterans like Charles.

🇺🇸 2026 is a special year for our nation — a time of both celebration and remembrance.

🇺🇸 It marks the 250th birthday of America and the 25th anniversary of the attacks on the Twin Towers on 9/11.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, as you gather with family and friends, let’s remember the true reason for the holiday.

🇺🇸 Take a moment to speak the name of a soldier you know who passed. Keep them in your mind and heart with gratitude.

🇺🇸 We remember all those lives lost, the families with missing pieces, and the stories cut too short — and we honor the freedom they made possible.

💡 Did you know? The Borden Avenue Veterans Residence is the only homeless shelter exclusively for veterans in Manhattan, New York.

Too often, these veterans feel they’ve fallen through the cracks and been forgotten. But with the incredible partnership between 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀, .inc, and the 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, we’re changing that narrative. Together, we’re proving that no veteran is ever left behind. 🇺🇸

This marks our 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲, and through this collaboration, we’ve brought hope and new beginnings to veterans. Even after the holidays, our work continues—providing care, support, and the assurance that our heroes will always be remembered. 💪

📹 Watch the reel to see how this partnership is making a real difference for those who’ve given so much for our country.

🪖Leslie Shields was struck by a roadside bomb in Vietnam and hit with a shrapnel in his right eye and left thigh.

🧡 He then developed Parkinson’s Disease as a result of his exposure to Agent Orange. His wife is his caretaker and stepping over the bathtub has been extremely dangerous for him. They also needed a new subfloor - the whole bathroom was a hazardous.

🇺🇸As you can see, Leslie is a true American hero with great resilience and strength. Thanks to your support, we were able to thank him for his service with this accessible bathroom.

❤️ Very Special thank you to Antoinette, his medical advocate who helped to facilitate this entire process and to Brian @ LifeMark and his team of construction workers who built this beautiful barrier-free bathroom!

🇺🇸❤️

🇺🇸 Earlier this month, we partnered with HousingPlus in NYC to provide hundreds of essential household items for our female veterans.

💜 This was our first EVER -only event, and we couldn’t have been more honored to meet these incredible women.

✨ It was such a pleasure getting to know them and hear their stories. They are veterans, moms, and hardworking members of the NYC workforce. Many also volunteer, give back to their communities, and carry the weight that comes with military service every single day.

🤝 Thank you to Northwestern Mutual Tri Harbor Financial for donating a portion of the funds to help make this event possible, especially Polgar , who is also a veteran and came out to volunteer with us!
