You probably don't need more health information.

You can find thousands of posts about mitochondria before lunch. Ask Google about fatigue and you'll have enough reading material to keep you busy until 2037. 😂

Information isn't scarce anymore. Context is. Because knowing that:
stress affects health,
mitochondria make ATP,
inflammation matters,
blood sugar matters,
sleep matters,
and nutrition matters...
doesn't automatically tell you how those things fit together in YOUR bigger picture.

THAT'S where people get stuck. They collect more information, buy another supplement, run another test, try another protocol, save another Instagram post...

But they're still asking:
“What am I supposed to DO with all of this?”

That's the gap I'm trying to help fill with Running on Empty.

I'm certainly not promising to diagnose the cause of your fatigue in 60 minutes.

I'm not into giving everyone the same protocol.

And I'm definitely not promising one magic fix.

What I AM going to do is teach you enough physiology to understand why we look at things like:
⚡ cellular energy production
🔥 inflammation + immune activity
🧠 stress physiology
🩸 blood sugar + nutrition
🔋 capacity + recovery..and then CONNECT them. Because information becomes much more useful when you have a framework for interpreting it.

That's what I want you to leave with. Not 47 new things to worry about. But instead - clarity & better questions. Overall, a bigger-picture understanding of what your body may be trying to tell you.

You do NOT need another list of 27 things to do! 🙅‍♀️

I refuse to give you one. 😂

Because if you've been dealing with fatigue or complicated health issues for any length of time, chances are you've already accumulated plenty of recommendations.

But here's the problem:
Knowing WHAT to do without understanding WHY you're doing it can still leave you guessing. 😵‍💫

So Running on Empty is designed differently.
I want to help you understand the physiology well enough that you can start asking BETTER questions:

⚡ How is my body actually producing usable energy?
🔥 What could be increasing demand?
🧠 Where does stress physiology fit?
🩸 Why does blood sugar matter?
🦠 How can immune activity/inflammation change the picture?
🔋 What does my ability to recover tell me about my current capacity?
And ultimately:
What deserves my attention next?

I can't tell every person in one webinar exactly why THEY are tired. (And anyone promising that probably deserves a raised eyebrow. 😉)

But I CAN give you a framework for thinking about fatigue differently.

That's the goal!
Not more overwhelm.
More understanding.

Because once you understand the physiology behind the problem, your next steps can become a whole lot more intentional.

🎉***It's WINS-Day Wednesday!***🎉

This is the day to share your latest **WINS, MIRACLES, & VICTORIES** in life!

Whether it's your health, your life in general, or ANYTHING at all, comment below any "wins" you have experienced, big or small, and we'll all cheer along with you! 🥳

“REMEMBER YOUR GREATNESS"

Before you were born,

And were still too tiny for

The human eye to see,

You won the race for life

From among 250 million competitors.

And yet,

How fast you have forgotten

Your strength,

When your very existence

Is proof of your greatness.

You were born a winner,

A warrior,

One who defied the odds

By surviving the most gruesome

Battle of them all.

And now that you are a giant,

Why do you even doubt victory

Against smaller numbers,

And wider margins?

The only walls that exist,

Are those you have placed in your mind.

And whatever obstacles you conceive,

Exist only because you have forgotten

What you have already

Achieved.

ONE WEEK. 🤯

I want to make something really clear about Running on Empty:
I'm not spending an hour telling you to sleep more, drink water and manage your stress.

You already know that. 😂

I want to talk about what happens UNDERNEATH those recommendations:
Why does stress affect energy?
Why is chronic inflammation metabolically demanding?
What role do mitochondria actually play beyond the “powerhouse of the cell” explanation we all learned in biology?
Why can two people experience the same stressor and have completely different responses?
Why does your ability to RECOVER tell us something different than whether you experienced fatigue in the first place?
And why can you technically be “functioning” while having very little reserve left?

THOSE are the conversations I want to have. 🤓

We'll connect:
⚡ Cellular energy
🧠 Stress physiology
🔥 Inflammation
🩸 Blood sugar + nutrition
🔋 Capacity + physiologic reserve
🌱 Recovery + health resiliency

Because knowing six disconnected facts about your body isn't nearly as useful as understanding how they interact.

My goal isn't for you to leave with 47 more things you think you should be doing.

It's for something to CLICK for you.

For you to understand your body better.

Ask better questions.

Recognize patterns you may have missed.

And hopefully make your next steps feel a little clearer.

That's the kind of health education I wish more of us had access to.

🎟 Running on Empty is September 8.
We're officially ONE WEEK OUT, and registration is open through the link in my bio.
Come nerd out with me. 🤓❤️

Just because you CAN keep going doesn't mean it isn't costing you.

I think this is particularly hard for high-functioning people to recognize. Because it sneaks up on you!

You get things done.
You show up.
You take care of people.
You work.
You push through the afternoon slump.
From the outside, you look...fine.

But here's a series of questions I've learned to ask myself:
What does all of that cost me afterward?
Do I have anything left?
Can I tolerate something unexpected?
How much recovery do I need after an ordinary day?
Can I add exercise without everything else falling apart?
If life gets unusually stressful, does my body have any reserve available to meet the increased demand?

That's a different way of thinking about energy. ✨️

Over the last few weeks, we've talked about physiologic reserve—the additional capacity our bodies can draw on when demand increases. THAT is one reason “functioning” isn't always the health metric we think it is.

You can function with very little reserve.
You can compensate beautifully - until something asks more of you.

So these days, I'm interested in more than:
“Can I do it?”
I also want to know:
“What does doing it cost me?”

Because I don't just want enough capacity to make it through my life.
I want enough capacity to LIVE it. 💫

🩵 Save this one if you're the person who's very good at looking “fine.”

🎟 This entire conversation is at the heart of Running on Empty, happening September 8. If you've spent years doing your best and still wondering why you're exhausted, I'd love to have you join me. Registration is open now through the link in my bio.

“Listen to your body” is good advice.
BUUUTTT sometimes I think we need to go one step further and learn how to interpret what it's saying.

Discomfort doesn't always mean STOP.

And being physically capable of doing something doesn't always mean KEEP GOING.

That's where capacity + recovery + adaptation become really useful concepts.

If I strength train today, I'm intentionally creating stress. If the "dose" is appropriate for my current capacity AND I have enough recovery afterward, my body can adapt. 💪 Over time I become stronger; my capacity increases. And something that once required significant effort eventually becomes...less hard.

That's adaptation!

But if I continually exceed my ability to recover? More isn't necessarily building more.

And the opposite matters too! If I never challenge my current capacity at all, I don't necessarily give my body a reason to adapt.

That's why I don't love the extremes of:
PUSH THROUGH EVERYTHING
or
AVOID EVERYTHING THAT FEELS HARD.

There's a giant, individualized middle ground.

THAT'S where I think a lot of healing happens.

Challenge → recover → adapt → increase capacity.
Then repeat.

The appropriate challenge will look completely different from one person to another—and even different for the SAME person during different seasons.
That's why context matters.
That's why paying attention matters.
And that's why strategy matters more than blindly doing more.

Don't just push your limits. Build them. ✌️

💾 Save this one!
And maybe send it to someone who's really good at the push part but keeps forgetting the recover part. 😂😉

🎟 If you've enjoyed going deeper into the physiology of resiliency with me, Running on Empty is where we're putting all of it together. Registration is open now.

08/27/2026

Your body doesn't manufacture a day's worth of ATP in the morning and put it into one giant cellular account. ATP is being produced and used continuously throughout your body.

And different tissues have different demands.

Your brain requires a substantial amount of energy just to keep doing brain things.
Your heart has to contract every second of every day.
Your skeletal muscles can massively increase their energy requirements when you move.
Activated immune cells can actually change their metabolism depending on what job they're being asked to perform.

🤓 THIS is why cellular health fascinates me.

Your body isn't simply deciding IF you have energy. It's constantly COORDINATING energy:
What needs resources right now?
What fuel is available?
What's the priority?
How much demand are we under?

What I find especially fascinating is that some things we label as “symptoms” can actually be part of that coordinated response.

Take illness - fatigue and the desire to rest aren't random failures. Signals between your immune system and brain can influence behavior—encouraging rest and reducing activity while the body responds to a threat.

There's real physiology underneath that response!

Does that mean every case of chronic fatigue is simply your body intelligently telling you to rest?
Absolutely not! Chronic fatigue is complex, and persistent symptoms deserve proper evaluation.

But understanding these mechanisms gives us a MUCH more interesting question than:
“Why won't my body just make more energy?”
I want to ask:
“What is my body currently being asked to do with its resources?”

THAT'S a question worth exploring!

And it's exactly the kind of question that helps us move away from random guessing and toward a more thoughtful strategy.

💾 Save this one because we're officially getting nerdier around here. 🤓

📤 And send it to the friend who already knows mitochondria are the “powerhouse of the cell” and is ready for the next lesson. 😂

What if the symptom isn't gone...but the threshold has changed? 🤔

I think this is one of the easiest forms of progress to miss!

We love binary measurements:
Fatigue: YES / NO
Pain: YES / NO
Brain fog: YES / NO
Exercise intolerance: YES / NO

But biology isn't usually that tidy. There's a LOT of information between “I have this symptom” and “I don't.”

I prefer to ask these types of questions about symptoms:
What does it take to trigger it now?
How intense is it?
How frequently does it happen?
How long does it last?
How much activity can I tolerate before it appears?
How quickly do I return to baseline afterward?

If you once needed an entire day to recover from something and now you need an hour, something changed.

If you once couldn't tolerate a ten-minute walk and now you're comfortably doing twenty, something changed.

If you still get tired—but it takes considerably more activity before you reach that point, something changed.

I don't want us manufacturing progress that isn't there, of course. But I ALSO don't want us overlooking meaningful progress because it doesn't look dramatic enough. Baby steps add up!

Sometimes the line moves before the symptom disappears.

That's health data too. ✌️

💾 Save this and use these questions the next time you're evaluating whether something is actually helping.

💬 Has your threshold changed in an area where the symptom itself hasn't completely disappeared? 🙋‍♀️ (Mine DEF has in many areas!)

🎟 Running on Empty is open for registration now. If you enjoy understanding the physiology underneath these patterns rather than simply being told what to do, you're my kind of person. 😂 Come join me!

08/26/2026

There is a pattern I notice in the people who make meaningful progress, and it's usually not:
"I found the perfect protocol and followed it flawlessly."

It's much less exciting than that. 😂

They get consistent!

They stop changing ten things every two weeks.
They learn what their body responds well to.
They get better at recognizing when something is helping—and when it's simply adding more noise.
They eat enough.
They prioritize sleep more often.
They move their body within their current capacity.
They actually give interventions enough time to evaluate them.

And when life gets messy?
They don't decide they've "failed" and throw the whole thing away.
They return to the basics.
That's a form of resiliency too.

Physiologic adaptation requires repeated signals over time.
One strength-training session doesn't build muscle.
One good night's sleep doesn't restore months of sleep debt.
One balanced meal doesn't create metabolic flexibility.
One nervous-system practice doesn't suddenly change the way your body responds to every future stressor.

But repeated appropriate inputs? Your body adapts to those!

This is something I think wellness culture makes unnecessarily complicated. We're constantly being shown the NEXT thing.
The next supplement.
The next biohack.
The next protocol.

Sometimes the smarter question is:
Am I consistently doing the things I already know help my body?

Not perfectly.
Consistently.
Those are very different standards.

❤️ Today's Winsday reminder: boring progress is still progress. 😏 And sometimes those boring little things are exactly how we build greater capacity over time.

💬 What's one decidedly UNexciting health habit that has made a real difference for you?
