From your gut. After every meal. Now made to last.

This week is the one everyone's been waiting for: GLP-1s β€” Semaglutide, Tirzepatide. The headlines are loud. The mechanism, when you actually look at it, is more elegant than the noise.

GLP-1 β€” Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 β€” is a hormone your gut makes naturally. L-cells in your intestine release it every time you eat. It signals your pancreas to release insulin, slows how fast food leaves your stomach, and tells your brain you're full. Natural GLP-1 lasts about two minutes before your body breaks it down.

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are engineered to bind to the same receptor your natural GLP-1 binds to β€” but they last about a week instead of two minutes. That's the whole mechanism. They're not making your body do something foreign. They're keeping a natural signal switched on longer.

Beyond the weight loss headlines: these were originally developed for type 2 diabetes. Research is now exploring cardiovascular outcomes, kidney protection, inflammation, food noise and cravings, and early work on addiction and neuroprotection. Weight loss is one effect β€” not the whole story.

What to actually know: common side effects include nausea, GI upset, and fatigue. The real concerns are muscle loss without adequate protein and resistance training, fat loss in places you didn't ask for, and rebound when people stop. These are powerful drugs that deserve real medical supervision, real labs, and a real plan β€” not just a Telegram source.

Next Wednesday: the peptide nobody wants to ask about β€” but everyone Googles.

Your body still makes it. It just makes less. Here's how to ask for more.

Growth hormone naturally declines with age β€” about 14% per decade after 30. It still gets made, just less of it, and the rhythms shift. That's where this week's family of peptides comes in.

Growth hormone secretagogues β€” Sermorelin, Ipamorelin, and CJC-1295 are the most commonly discussed β€” are signaling peptides. They don't add growth hormone to your body. They ask your pituitary gland to release more of your own, mostly during the natural release that happens in deep sleep.

That distinction matters. Traditional HGH is a fixed dose, injected into your system, that overrides your body's feedback loops. Secretagogues amplify what's already supposed to happen. Your body keeps regulating. That's the safety story.

What's been studied: deeper sleep quality, lean muscle preservation, body composition changes, faster recovery, skin elasticity, joint comfort. Most people who try them notice the sleep first.

The same conversation rules apply as the rest of this series. They're banned by WADA in sport. They're not for everyone β€” especially anyone with active cancer or certain endocrine conditions. They need medical supervision, baseline labs, and a real plan. The right secretagogue, dose, and timing depend on you β€” not on what's trending online.

Next Wednesday: GLP-1s β€” Semaglutide, Tirzepatide. What they really do, beyond the weight-loss headlines.

Three amino acids. One copper atom. Fifty years of research.

Meet GHK-Cu β€” a tripeptide your body already makes, bound to a single copper atom. Levels are high when you're young, and drop about 60% by age 60. It was first identified in human blood plasma in 1973.

What it's been studied for: wound healing, collagen and elastin production, hair growth, anti-inflammatory pathways, antioxidant defense. Research has also shown it can influence the expression of thousands of genes. That's a lot to ask of three amino acids β€” and it's why GHK-Cu has stayed interesting for over 50 years.
Here's the fun part: if your grandmother used a high-end anti-aging cream in the 1990s, she probably already met this peptide and never knew its name. Copper peptide creams and serums have been part of dermatology since the 1980s. Today, you'll find it in skincare, hair products, and clinical formulations for wound healing.
A note on quality: not all "copper peptide" products are created equal. The form (topical vs. injectable), the concentration, and whether the copper is actually bound to the peptide all matter. This is one peptide where the version you're using is at least as important as the fact that you're using it.

Next Wednesday: growth hormone secretagogues β€” Sermorelin, Ipamorelin, CJC-1295. Sleep, body composition, and recovery without the risks of traditional HGH.

Not new. Not rare. Already in you.

That's where this week's peptide comes from. Thymosin Beta-4, a protein found in nearly every cell of your body, especially in platelets and cells that show up first when you get injured. It plays a role in how your tissue repairs itself.

TB-500 is a synthetic, smaller version of that protein, made in a lab so it's stable enough to study and use. In animal research and a handful of early human trials, it's been explored for tendon and ligament repair, muscle recovery, blood vessel formation, wound healing, and even hair growth. There's research looking at it in heart-attack recovery and dry eye, too.

Remember last week? This is the cousin peptide everyone compares to BPC-157. Both touch tissue repair, which is why people stack them. But doubling up isn't always better. Sourcing quality is harder. And if you don't know which compound is doing what, you can't fine tune anything. Smart peptide use looks like clear goals not a shotgun.

The same caveats apply: most data is from animal studies and small groups of human studies. It's banned from the WADA. The conversation has moved faster than the clinical evidence, which doesn't make it bad. It makes it a "talk to a qualified provider" topic.

Next Wednesday: GHK-Cu- the copper peptide your grandmother could have used. (No, really.)

Body. Protection. Compound.

That's what BPC stands for β€” and it's where one of the most talked-about peptides of the last few years gets its name.
BPC-157 is a 15-amino-acid chain derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice (yes, your stomach makes things that heal you). Researchers synthesized a stable version in a lab. In animal studies, it's shown effects on tendon and ligament repair, gut lining, wound healing, joint inflammation, and blood vessel formation. Online, it's been nicknamed "the Wolverine peptide."

It shows up most often in recovery conversations: post-injury, post-surgery, gut issues, stubborn tendon problems. Not a magic bullet. Not right for everyone. The quality of what people buy online varies wildly. This is one where the conversation matters more than the prescription β€” talk to a qualified provider before any protocol.
Next Wednesday: TB-500 β€” the cousin peptide. Why some stack them, and why some shouldn't.

Your body is already making peptides right now. Thousands of them.
Peptides are short chains of amino acids β€” basically tiny messengers that tell your cells what to do. Build muscle. Repair tissue. Calm inflammation. Sleep deeper. Burn fat. Heal a wound. There's a peptide signal behind almost every one of those.
Scientists have identified more than 7,000 naturally occurring peptides in the human body, and we've engineered hundreds more in labs to target specific outcomes β€” recovery, longevity, cognition, hormone balance, immune support, and more.
So why doesn't one just… keep working forever?
A few reasons. Your receptors get desensitized. Your body adapts. Your natural production shifts. And the signal that worked at week 4 often isn't the one your body needs at week 12. That's why protocols matter. That's why timing matters. And that's why "more" is rarely better.
Welcome to Wellness Wednesdays β€” my weekly drop of the things I'm learning, testing, and seeing work in health, recovery, and longevity. I'm constantly educating myself, and I'd rather pass it on than keep it to myself. Some weeks we'll go deep on one topic. Other weeks I'll share quick tidbits worth knowing β€” sleep, hormones, movement, the small habits that change everything.
We're starting with a 12-week peptide series, because everyone's asking and almost nobody's explaining it simply.
Next week: the peptide everyone's talking about for recovery β€” and what it really does.
See you next Wednesday. Your cells (and your future self) will thank you.
