Making my way back to my new normal after my Periacetabular Osteotomy (PAO) surgery.
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost four weeks since surgery. At my latest appointment, my doctor gave me the green light to start exercising again, as long as I continue to stay completely off my affected leg. I still have about eight more weeks on crutches before I can begin putting full weight on my right side.
Being back at the studio and easing into some sort of routine feels incredibly good. Mentally, this recovery has been one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced. Going from constantly being on the go- running a business, supporting my kids’ activities, spending time with my family, and teaching- to suddenly doing very little was a huge adjustment.
If you know me, you know I’m not someone who sits still easily. There was definitely a moment (or two!) of frustration when I realized I couldn’t just get up and do the things I wanted to do. Recovery has required a level of patience that doesn’t come naturally to me.
Today was my first real outing with my family since surgery, and it felt so good for my mind and spirit. These little milestones may seem small, but right now they feel huge.
Thank you to everyone who has checked in, sent messages, offered support, and cheered me on throughout this journey. Your kindness means more than you know.
I’m coming back just one step at a time. It may take a little longer, but I’ll be back in full swing before I know it.
I miss you all. ❤️
