June Update ✨

Proud to continue our partnership with the incredible team at Memorial Sloan Kettering in delivering an open surgical training program for their Urology Fellows. Now in its 5th year, this program brought fellows together for two immersive days in a high-risk surgical environment, learning alongside expert attendings from MSK and Hartford HealthCare across urology, vascular, and colorectal surgery.

Since launching in 2013, the ECMO program at Hartford Hospital has grown into an internationally recognized leader, delivering high-quality clinical care and pioneering the first ECMO On-the-Go training program.

CESI is honored to partner with this extraordinary team in offering the ELSO-accredited Adult ECMO Training Course, one of only eight in the United States.

Today, our CESI team (joined by our furry friend, Benny) dressed in blue to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). 💙

Observed each May, ALS Awareness Month highlights the challenges faced by those affected by ALS, celebrates their courage, and brings communities together. It also helps drive vital research and advocacy initiatives focused on discovering better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

🚨 Big News from Hartford Hospital! 🚨

Hartford Hospital is proud to be 1 of only 8 Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO)–certified training sites in the United States!

This week, our ECMO team partnered with CESI to deliver a 3-day immersive training course focused on building the technical, clinical, and teamwork skills essential for safe, high-quality ECMO care.
We were thrilled to welcome providers from across the East Coast to CESI as they completed Step 1 & Step 2 requirements for the ELSO Adult ECMO Certification (E-AEC).

👏 A huge shoutout to Matt Figorito, Leonard Texidor, Kellie Kelley, and Dr. Jason Gluck for leading such an outstanding program!

🚨 Disaster Day Highlights! 🚨

Take a look at these moments from Disaster Day, complete with this year’s added challenge: radiation exposure. Exercises like this are essential to the training of our emergency medicine residents, giving them real‑world experience in triaging and managing large volumes of patients under pressure.

On March 20–21, we had the honor of hosting the New England Section of the American Urological Association (NEAUA) right here in Hartford!
This year’s event welcomed 72+ Residents and APPs along with 50+ faculty members for two days of hands‑on learning and collaboration.

• Two live‑acting clinical scenarios
• Microsurgery
• Ultrasound
• Loupes training
