Earlier this month, Hartford HealthCare employees volunteered their time to help artist Sharon Aprea paint an Able Table for the Town of Winsted. Thank you to American Mural Project for allowing us to use their space for the activity!

The table also features a custom wildlife mural that celebrates the zoo's animals.

Today we had a ribbon tying ceremony for the Able Table at the Beardsley Zoo. The table was dedicated in honor of Gary Jessop, a longtime groundskeeper at the zoo, by his family. Special thanks to Patrick Ganino and his son Colson for donating their talent to create this beautiful mural.

Every Able Table is unique. This Able Table at McCook Point Park in Niantic is the first one where the artwork tells a story about a person's life. Barbara Stanland dedicated this Able Table to her husband Andy's memory. She knows firsthand the challenges of navigating public spaces with someone in a wheelchair. It is her hope, and ours, that this donation will allow more people to enjoy the park for many years to come.

The Able Table dedication at the Barnes Nature Center in Bristol on Friday was incredible in so many ways. We had perfect weather, a great crowd, a blessing from Pastor Al, a ribbon cutting with Mayor Ellen Zoppo, Councilman Greg Hahn, Fern Vaughn from the Nature Center and Tom Barnes, approval from Emily the dog, lunch donated by Cravings, and brownies from Kevin Prior! Thank you to Chris Gann for the amazing artwork, Fern Vaughn, Scott Heth and Tom Barnes for all of their support, and everyone that came and made the day so special!

An Able Table is coming to the Barnes Nature Center in Bristol this Friday!

BRISTOL — The Barnes Nature Center will be unveiling a new, donated “Able Table” this Friday.
