Insurance is getting increasingly messy and starting to feel like one big conflict of interest!
Please do not get upset with your healthcare offices for not understanding every angle of this insurance game. Take it up with your insurance because you are their clients! We do not have any special avenues different than you for getting clarity.
And continue to support small independent practitioners or one day you may not have us as an option! You can bet your insurance company doesn’t know what medical care you need, doesn’t understand best practices in any field and doesn’t care what sacrifices it takes to make it the best deal for THEM, not you, even though they want you to think it’s good for you.
We don’t participate with most insurance plans for hearing aids because they require us to be the only one sacrificing- and that’s not sustainable.
It’s wonderful to think you could spend $2400 and be told you’re saving $4,000. It actually requires extra steps for an office like ours, doesn’t include things like real ear measurements or assistance with connecting to your phone which means separate charges to you to start to make up for the 50% loss in revenue to us the specialists (because your insurance company is profiting now instead)
I’d rather skip the middle man, charge a fair price that includes everything you need (say $2475 as a comparison) and not have to take a loss on every patient we see. Which is important so we can remain available to you in the years to come!
